If the pigment is settling on the bottom, how are you reaching it with your dowel if you are only stirring the top of the epoxy?

Good question! Not all of it settles. Can still make designs. Makes it kind of 3D this way.

@@BlacktailStudio I was able to achieve exactly what I wanted to in my most recent table attempt because of your tips and the gradual upward swirl, avoiding disturbing the epoxy resin setting up on the bottom

You could use the pigment settling to the bottom to your advantage, maybe you could use less pigment at the bottom of the table compared to the top where all of the pigment would have settled?.

@@MMmmmmBobbert he’s suggesting, if both sides are evenly leveled, after the pour, that you could use what would have been the bottom for your now top, since the dyes will settle; quite simple and brilliant really. . .🤙

I’m sure I’ll never make a table or any furniture but that one was so beautiful! I loved this so much. My epoxy resin work is just small pieces but I can always dream of having a workshop like your! Happy to have found your channel!

I remember seeing this video when it first came out and didn't even know I was subscribed to you for the longest. I think this table is so beautiful. I'd love to see a burnt desk with a crimson dye with orange flake to make it like lava running through a channel. So awesome.

I'm was an 18-year-old construction student living in Ireland (when I first wrote this) and I just spent the past school year building my own blue epoxy resin river table. your 'what not to do' videos helped me so much with building my mold and how best to go about it so thank you so much for the content you create. I was hoping to improve my skills over the summer and make some custom pieces, however I began going to college doing outdoor sports so I havnt had a lot of time! I've made some small things but for the next few years I'll be far too busy getting my windsurfing and rock climbing instructor qualifications and working in adventure centers to get to a shop to build!

As a student this was a terrible build.

Retired, and I spend most of my days working on my mosaic art pieces, while watching KZread diy and how to videos. And your videos and some of the best out there. Thank you for all that you do.

The contrasting blue offset with the wood grain really makes it pop. Love your work!!!

The swirl and color of the epoxy is amazing! Don't worry about using jigs for making joints, as there are many advantages to this approach. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and passion!

Hi, I'm not a wood worker, just a chef who loves and appreciates a beautiful table!

You do amazing work. I love this table with the blue and the islands, they make it look like it's a river running downstream right through the center of the table with little patches of land in the middle.

I'm a student that helps out at my dad's business on weekends. I actually really liked the black backdrop, it seems more personal and contrasts in a way that isn't overbearing. I'd just like to say I'm really impressed with all your knowledge and expertise, and how you still learn along the journey of making your pieces- what an awesome mindset! You're an inspiration :)

Owner of a High Performance floor coating and restoration company! If you mix your powder colour into your epoxy a day ahead of time into your Part A it wont settle out over night after you mix in your part B. We refer to this in the industry as “wetting out”your powder!

Art Director / Character Designer. Very fun to watch! For the photo shoot, the white background worked better imo simply b/c of the pearl white epoxy coloring mixed in the table. The white background brightens the blue and pearl white epoxy some, and makes the colors shine a little brighter. When you shoot with a black background, it oddly darkens the blue epoxy and really separates that pearl white epoxy where it feels too bright and unnatural. My guess is the black background absorbs too much of the light from your primary light sources and isn't bouncing around enough. Especially not hitting that epoxy as much as it could. You may be able to get away with the black background if you have multiple defused lighting around the room. Any case, I also recognize this video was done like... almost exactly one year ago so I'm sure you have a better photography solution now. Keep up the awesome work!

Again, how practical and stable would the table be if it had solid slabs of the same wood and finish for the legs in place of the "box" type legs you made on this one? Thanks for this build! @@wassenaat if you look at the kinds of things MEs do and think "I could enjoy doing that day-to-day", absolutely. I advise that over nearly everything else: ask yourself if you get jazzed doing those sorts of things day in and day out for awhile.

Sometimes you get a crystallized gunk at the bottom of the epoxy container. Sometimes all of it is solid before mixing.

Walnut and deep blue might be my favorite color mix. I did a charcuterie board a few months ago ( or a few years from now, for the guy in the video) and the colors are just a great contrast.

I just got my first circular saw! & just made my first bed frame & closet organizer! Im still a rookie but would love to learn more about epoxy to make more creative things. Thank you for your videos!

Associate design engineer: finally a colored table.. thank you.. did this table not require filling up of small holes through a syringe? do those small holes depend on type, age and planing method used on the wood? also how about a red epoxy Canadian maple table?

Kathy, do what you can with what you've got. Make some wooden cheese boards or charcuterie. Make them small so you can afford to put some colored epoxy in the knotholes or inclusions. I hope this or something else will bring you some peace. Best regards from a retired USAF fighter pilot who will be praying for you.

As Dale said start small, tiny even. Sell what you can and only put the money back into your work. If you always save the profits, eventually you will have enough for a more expensive tool. Just keep the ball rolling. Remember if you do this it might take years to get to where you want to be. If you don't do this, you'll never get there.

I work in sustainable seafood in London, and have been making the odd bits of woodwork during lockdown - some tables, garden furniture, a raised floor and stuff. The videos are brilliant, thank you! Also have no idea how to cut joints, so on the new skill list.

Cam, RN here, I’ve been hounding you for a colorful epoxy on some other videos, glad I ran across this one. Love the pop.

Engineer in MI. Hi Cam - love your videos, they are so helpful! I just poured my first epoxy table and after drying there is a slight gap (1/4") between the resin and the walnut sides. Can I scuff the resin and pour the liquid glass again or should I just sand down/router sled the top off?

Have always been intriged with river tables and have managed to get myself a slab of macrocapa . Have decided to make old farm house type legs which I am using a mixture of New Zealand natives.Have really enjoyed this video and will be referring to it during my build.

I recently subscribed because I really appreciate that you don't bug me to death about it. I love your work and your videos. I also appreciate the fact that you include some of your mistakes in your videos . They add to the entertainment factor. I enjoy working with wood and I'm self taught, and taught myself how to hand cut dovetails because they are so strong as well as aesthetically pleasing. I'm not physically able to do the heavy work anymore but still enjoy the process. I wish I had started learning the craft much earlier in life. You just can't beat a beautifully crafted item created from a warm responsive piece of wood.

I wish I would have learned to be a professional wrestler. That was my life’s goal and I never did it.

I'm a woodworker/cabinetmaker. I love this project! Must try it some day! Walnut and blue is so beautiful!!

Librarian. I just discovered your videos and have been enjoying them all week. I wish I had learned woodworking when I was younger, my grandparents built homes in New Hampshire in the 70's. The smell of fresh cut wood and the sound of saws are some of my earliest memories. I also wish I had learned ballet and ballroom dancing.

A skill I wish I had learned by now.,... How to create a bank ... convince one of the biggest countries in the world with the largest growing economy... To give me full control over all of their currency.... In addition to paying the interest on every.. penny... Just think in 50 years they probably owe me trillions of dollars... Nevermind I just googled it the Federal reserve already did that... And this is just a guesstimation 95% of the tools in material used to make this...gorgeous piece of art!!!! Well none of them are made in the US.... It's just an observation in an opinion.... The only thing produced in the United States of America is the centuries-old would you using... And I'm not trying to be condescending or judgmental or anything like that it's awesome it's just.... As a construction worker I did a couple of.. large-scale Chinese restaurants... They had pretty much the same types of tables 20 years ago... With all types of inlays and... But I'm not going to go into details but yeah... I've seen large box trucks with 10 pallets each.. from a distribution center in New York 20 years ago.. the main different was it wasn't US lumber.. keep up the good work.. and if the Federal reserve keeps printing money like they are.. 10 years from now those tables could be worth half a million Federal reserve notes...there are places in Alaska right now that are trying to charge $50 for a pizza.. and don't even get me started on tuna fish.. just look up.. northeast America tuna.. Japan.. and Japanese sushi restaurants in New York... And China....
