How To Make A Gents Calla Lily Buttonhole
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How to make a gents calla lily buttonhole - simple style, classic look, featuring knotted snake grass detail
Ingredients - small headed calla lily in good condition, ivy leaves, lambs ear leaves and touch of lavender
Wool to bind, selection of wires, floral corsage tape and a pin.
A buttonhole is essentially a single flower worn by a man at a special occasion. In today’s video we show you how to put together a classic calla lily buttonhole, with a couple of touches to bring it up to date. One feature is that we internally wired the flower which is a great technique to know. We finished the design with a knotted detail of snake grass, and bound the stem with a colours wool and matching pin.
Let us know in the comment section what your favourite gents buttonhole is.
The wires used are :
The thicker rose wire is .26 ( a thinner version would be .28 which is the thickens of the reel wire I used )
The green flexible thicker wire is .22 gauge.

The "scrunch" is a unique and unexpected detail. I love the variety of greenery used, also. Really takes a single flower to another level.

My eyebrows shot up when you scrunched the snake grass you'd wired, but the effect was very interesting! Thanks for the tutorial, John.

@@trudiemason8564 thank you! 😀 I was going to make a shape but it took away from the flower so the scrunch added a detail instead!
Very nice. That tiny work really hurts my arthritis in my hands. I did my sons wedding. I made 7 mens and 10 womens. 1 wrist band. 4 arrangements. For the wedding party and church. 7 arrangements for the reception. Tired after all that. I ❤ flowers and enjoy watching you so I can get different ideas for church each week. ❤️🫶❤️ NC 🇺🇸

@@deannaharrell6803 thank you 😊 that was a lot of work you took on for the wedding, so well done! These are fiddly, so you are right about the pain if you have arthritis. Hope you are now relaxing after the wedding 😀🌼🌼🌼
Hello, John! Beautiful work! I happen to think that the mini-callas made wonderful button-holes (boutonnieres). The variety of foliage choices makes for interest and complements the flower so well. Hope all is well with you and yours. Thank you for sharing your talent!

@@stepps511 thank you Sir! The mini calla do make a very classy buttonhole choice and is lighter than a rose which can be quite heavy. Hope you are having a great week - stay classy!
Thank you John, lovely to watch...

I think you should make a wrist corsage with the knotted snake grass, and the green Kermit Mom’s. And maybe some white orchids
