    This is lovely! I have been watching a few of your videos and was wondering if you can inspire me and get me some advice please? I am making two medium arrangements for my church tomorrow (sorry about the short notice) 1. A commissioned, medium traditional ‘inspired by fields of wild flowers’ 2 commissioned, medium free form - Free form? ‘Inspired by the lives of mum & dad I have had a brain injury so I need to make them as simple and straight forward but special because they are for our local flower festival. Can you help me with advice and tips what to do? I have used oasis foam in the past Gemma x

  • @FlowerJoos
    @FlowerJoos21 сағат бұрын

    Hi Gemma! How exciting, but you are right about the time! You ,use of organised your flowers and have a rough idea of the two designs I think. My best advice is to be very clear with what you want to portray - so maybe for the fields design everything is inserted vertically and naturalistically. So it really has a fiend vibe, with a light airy feel. With the second then you maybe want to show two elements / sections, that are connected maybe? So keep it simple - don’t add extra ideas and elements that take away from the obvious main idea. For foam free, then you need a container that has a little depth to hold a good reservoir of water, and chicken wire makes a good mechanic to hold the flowers - ideally wedge it into the container, or tape it in - you don’t want it rocking about! The other main thing - just enjoy making them! That really shines through as well 😀🌼🌼🌼

    @@FlowerJoos thank you for you quick response, sorry i meant Free form style for the 2nd? 1st arrangement - vertical arrangement 2nd arrangement - Would you have any photo or video examples? thanks Gemma😃

  • @FlowerJoos
    @FlowerJoos20 сағат бұрын

    @@brodyfromtheblock7 hi Gemma. With a freestyle design you can do anything! So don’t be traditional, steer away from symmetrical triangles - just be creative and have fun. It’s hard to suggest videos or images ( and I can’t post images her as a reply sadly ) because I do t know what you have material wise. If you have chosen two main colours then an idea would be to split these and create a design that has the two side by side ( representing two ) rather than mixing them? If you pop onto Pinterest then there is lots of inspiration there as well. So for this I would ask - what does mum and dad represent to me? How best can I show that ( two elements, or two colours, or things showing lots of connections, or a cooking / gardening theme perhaps ). You can add in props as well that are theme approriate. Now - just as an idea - how about gloves filled with flowers? So cooking mits and gardening gloves maybe? That could be fun! But honestly, just see what you have, make a descision that shows the strongest way to portray what you think reprints the title, and then go for it, but don’t cloud that plan!

    Not surprised at the top 5, as I remember them well and found them quite interesting and useful ❤. My favorite was the cascade bridal bouquet with the calla lilies; the wiring technique you demonstrated for holding the cascading materials in place helped me greatly when I designed my niece's bridal bouquet a few years ago! ❤ I especially enjoy your large designs, I was inspired to collect greens, young sapling cuts, and wild hops to decrease cost & add unique visual interest to a large piece I created ❤. Thank you for your channel. So awesome! I've really appreciated learning the names of the flowers and greenery both in the video and in the description. Videos enjoyed (hard to narrow the list): Videos with bridal bouquets. I like to make them even if they're not for a wedding. It's kinda like ordering a beautifully decorated birthday cake and enjoying it even though it's not for anyone's birthday! "Popular Hand-Tied Bouquet Using Mixed Flowers - simple, easy to create -" "Three Ways To Finish Off A Hand Tied Bridal Bouquet" (pins in the ribbon) "How To Make A Tied Pew End" "How To Make A Bo-Ho Wedding Bouquet Using Floral Egg" Techniques: Chocolate box bows Arranging flowers and greenery in my hand in a spiral. Magic! Bouquet with flat bottom, cut stems so it stands on its own. Looping long, waxy leaves by piercing with stem. Instead of typical leather leaf fern, using grasses, olive branches, French or Italian ruscus, etc.

    Wow - you have really got a lot out of the content, which is amazing. I love that you sometimes make wedding bouquets just for the process - its actually a really good thing to do, as you can get creative, try things out, improve your speed - in other words, hone your skills! And then you can just enjoy the result! Everyone is different and we can learn from everyone around us. I must admit I enjoy watching how to make videos - last night it was great as I made pizza from scratch! But also flower videos. So, you always learn something and your accumulated knowledge is the bits that you use and reflect you. I’m so happy that things I do, like using different foliages, are things you like to do as well, and it will be in your way! Thank you for such a detailed feedback - hope you are having a great week!

Initially, it was have a go with the view to doing something in the industry but soon had a reality check lol. In my experience, there are so few classes (particularly in Wales) which make your technique videos really helpful. (now you can't shut me up!) I agree that there is a variety of videos (something for everyone) but I especially liked the "instructional" ones, where you John, are the teacher. More recently, as you've semi-retired, I found that I enjoyed the relaxing aspect of watching an arrangement come to life--you've gone a bit more therapeutic now, saying, "enjoy" the process. I find it fun that I've been around a while. No wonder I'm your biggest fan!
