How To Make A Winter Floral Parallel Design
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How to make a winter floral parallel design featuring calla lilies, spruce and ivy
Ingredients - gladiola, calla lilies, standard carnations, alstroemeria, spray carnations, spruce, euphorbia, hedera, ruscus, and forsythia foliage.
A parallel design is ideal for many locations - on a sideboard, or mantlepiece or low down in a fireplace . It could even be made to be viewed from both sides.
In this design we use muted colours to keep it light, but contrasted with the dark calla and alstroemerias. Spruce and ivy bring the winter feel - but you could add touches of silver or decor to make it much more sparkly, the choice is yours!

Wow once again. I am learning so much from you. I am a starter to doing floristry. I just love the things you create.
The dramatic difference in height of this arrangement is striking. The flowers and foilage below take on a forest floor effect. The textures are flawless and so wonderfully executed. The rectangular shape makes this so versatile. It would be beautiful in a low basket on a long farmhouse table or displayed in a dark granite oblong container in a contemporary minimalist setting.

Used gladioli and carnations a lot in my church work. Retired now though. Still love to look at your work.
Hello John just picked up on you a couple of days ago. I’m in Ayr and love all things flower arranging but I am purely doing it as a much loved hobby started with evening classes with my late mum in the 90s. I make arrangements season themed as gifts for friends and donate to church and charity, so because I do it at my own expense, I obviously don’t make money but I just love what I do and taking time till I get it right, having fun is what it is about for me. I have subscribed to your channel. Merry Christmas to you🌲🌲🌲🌲

Merry Christmas to you! That is fantastic that you are sharing want you love creating with friends and for charity - well done to you! You are totally right - it’s the process rather than the end result - the joy is in the creating! Glad you have found a way to bring flowers into your life and to spread that love. Have a great Christmas 🎄 🎅🏼

Beautiful John, very much a statement arrangement. Lovely to see you use carnations and spray carnations, they are often overlooked but they are really pretty hardy flowers. The arrangement looks very contemporary, I love it
I love parallel designs! We did that type on the tables for a garden club convention. although for a budget allowance we didn’t use as much foliage or flowers. They are fun to arrange!

Hi. I am a new subscriber. I love your videos. But one thing that is very useful is to know how much something like that would cost? Or How much is a good price to charge for something like that? I know it varies according to what you utilize on your design. But it is always good to have an idea . I think it will help if you give us a rough estimation of what something like that would costs. I like the idea that you are telling us the name of the fillers and the flowers that you are working with so it would be easier if anybody wants to order it. Can you also show us how to make dried Sumer wreath? Thank you.
@FlowerJoos
Жыл бұрын
Hello! Welcome aboard 😀 those are good points and a good suggestion for a video 🌼 We tend to steer away from costs because as you say there are so many variables and the videos also can be out of date if they are older. But I shall have a think how best to give an indication . Thanks for watching and joining us 😊🙋🏼♂️
I love that with the exception of the random stem of ruscus. Was that intentional?
@FlowerJoos
2 жыл бұрын
Are you meaning the stem vertically going up? It is meant to be there just as a contrast to the flowers and to emphasis the vertical placements, but you could use a lighter coloured foliage like eucalyptus or just the flowers. It’s optional 😀
First Happy New Year. And Second, I loved this arrangement. By the way, have you lost some weight??? You look a bit thinner now. Could just be me!!! Anyway, it looks good and I'm going to try this the next time we have a party!

How much tome the Gladiolas take time to open all the blooms?

That depends on the ambient temperature - if warm they will open in a day or two 😀
