How to Make a Fire in Wet and Rainy Conditions - Finding Dry Kindling and Tinder
Everything in the woods is wet from all the rain and snow that we've been getting,, so I have to find dry material to be able to make my fire. I demonstrate how I would normally do that.

One thing i love about your channel is eventhough you have success with your channel you still find time to answer questions and like comments. Not many channels appreciate their fans. Never change your the best and thank you for sharing your skills. 👊

Why am I watching this? I already know this, I've done this dozens of times. I guess that's a sign of good content
I especially like the natural sounds and the 'lack' of music. Real, simple and great video sir
i love how you try to make things as complicated as possible so that it’s as relatable to everyone as possible. like not everyone has a fire starter or a tarp

Never change the way you make your video's. Your consistency in your content is nice. No clickbait, you know.
Backpacking in the Great Smokies is a good way to learn about making campfires (all my cooking) and tent set-ups in the wet. And about camping/hiking in black bear country. I always looked for dead trees as I got kinda near my intended camp site. I tarped over my free-standing tent and would set it up on the slightest of knolls. All of this acquired practice paid off with comfortable dry experiences (half with wife/small children), while I saw many regular 'go light' hikers have difficult trips.

I love the Smokies, one of my favorite places to visit. Lots of rain and black bears for sure lol I've never seen so many anywhere else. And yes it's the little things a lot of people overlook, like you said setting up camp on slightly raised ground.. small details like that you learn to pay attention to when you have experience
Wow. Your channel has really grown! It's holistic growth, too. The same down-to-earth energy you were putting in from the get-go.
Still watching this one. Enjoying the fact that you are always out there... no matter the waether. Really enjoy watching your content.
15 second ad, is worth the wait for this guy 🤟 Great Vid
All great information to know. Great tip about finding dry material under those rocks. Thanks
You should consider linking items you use in your video to a site where viewers can buy them. You could do them through affiliate programs, but that is up to you. I always enjoy supporting great channels that way. Keep up the great work!
Excellent! Thank you for not cutting any corners! Survival skills aren't usually as necessary when it's convenient! 😅
Thank u for sharing your knowledge
If your wood is really wet, ie. 3 days of continual rain, large pieces of bark on top of your ignited fire protects from additional rain and reflects/concentrates the heat to improve drying. Love your channel brother, excellent tutelage!

Love that tip!
i wanna see this during insanely bad heavy rain, interesting how you always find a solution or alternative
Loving your channel for your expertise, advice, and real demonstrations!!! Thank you!
Oh yes. I did this for years. I builded ground ovens to cook on. A scouting team was left in the cold ones, they couldn’t figure it out. 3 adults and some teenagers. My fire was pretty big and I was nice and toasty while they couldn’t get a flame going. 😂 Well they had their pride and didn’t ask. They just looked very stern towards me.
Feeling "alive" & "fresh" in nature according to your nice videos Thanks alot❤❤❤
Great video my friend. I've got to get put and practice this. Some fatwood tinder sticks would work great in thise conditions. Thanks again.

Very informative. I go out at least once a week, rain or shine, and that's pretty close to how I do it.
There has been times where I pulled huge trees out of the water and still have the greatest fires...Always a fun challenge:)
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to more........no presure 😜 gday from Sydney oooostralia
I agree with you that a lighter is less reliable that the rod but I would say that it depend on which lighter you buy. The Bic lighter is the best lighter there is in my opinion. Even if you drop it into water, you can just blow into it for a minute than roll it onto your thigh to finish drying the flint. It is smaller than a rod and also lighter. Honestly, i brarely bring my rod with me anymore. 2 bic lighters are my go to.
You my friend are an absolute legend ⛺️💪

Nice 👍🙂
I just found your channel and I love your videos. I live in NE Warren County, PA. Is there any chance you'd divulge the locations of your videos? The video "Solo Camping Deep in the ANF" looked like Logan Falls and the "Rainbow Trout Catch and Cook" looked maybe like Minister Creek. How close am I?
The dude sounds like he is from Meadville, Pennsylvania. Those rocks look like Appalachian rocks. By his KZread view count, the dude should have hauled in one-half million dollars as a KZreadr. Impressive.
