Deep Woods SOLO Winter Camping in a Primitive Shelter
I hike deep into the cold, snowy woods of Northern Pennsylvania and camp out in the snow and single digit temperatures. I build a primitive shelter between two large rocks using hemlock boughs for covering and bedding. I enjoy a Delmonico steak and onion cooked on the coals

What a great video. No fuss, no complaining. Kudo's my man.
I was impressed to learn a new way to split a log. That was really cool.

Best survival channel on KZread. This guys just seems genuine and cool
Your the man !!!..ttou don.t spend three quarters of the video as a cooking show😅😅😅😅...just plain and simple and straight to the point ...PLUS....I love the fact and the way you use downed tree.s to build your shelter ..not like alot of others that post videos...who cut down standing trees just to remove the branches for their shelters...that a real good way to preserve the forest ...NOT...!!..Thanks for your post ...keep them coming ...happy camping 😊😊
Your videos are beautifully shot!!!

Another good one, just keeping it real and simple.
this was a great video. and i got a good laugh at temping the air with a meat thermometer.
Another great video! So impressed by how little you actually camp with. I don't think I can go that hard core, but definitely learning lots from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I haven't done this in three decades. I had one thin blanket, a knife, a mess kit, some twine. I built a lean to, covered with evergreen branchs, made a similar bed. After setting up camp I changed into dry unerwear, That was cold. But I warmed up with suupper, pork chop, potato and went to bed. Got up well before dawn, had breakfst, hiked out before the sun came up. I went back to that site two years later, had a great pile of elevated kindling and small firewood.
I really like seeing you cook a 'dirty' steak. This is overlooked and most people freak out about it. The coals just flick off and it tastes amazing. You choice of camp location was near perfect. Could offer a longer term stay
Finally found a fellow Pennsylvanian here on KZread

You do a great job. Thank you for sharing
Great video my wife and I love campfire onions. Steak and onions in the woods and a cool shelter equals a good time. I found a cool fishing spot along the susquehanna river. Im going to camp out overnight in a simple debris shelter and do some night fishing here soon.
Absolutely gorgeous atmosphere bud, so atmospheric and unique!
that steak with onion must have been wonderful!
That roasted onion is so good did a few of them in an oven but I'm sure it's even better on a coal fire.
Enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Dude went full cave man from shelter to making steak.😯 He made it look So Easy a Cave Man can do it. I just had to say that. 😂👍
Makes me miss camping at minister creek by tionesta. I need to get out more this year, but i think i'll wait until it warms up a little more lol.

Amazing experience, forest is always the solution 👌🔥🤘❤️🍻💯
The best bushcraft channel. Thanks John!
Love ur videos. So relaxing! Learning a lot too!
Awwwww!!!! I was expecting coyote howls during the night…maybe next time
Gorgeous camera work! Felt like you had a whole camera crew. 🎩🤏🏻
Splitting that log against the rock like that is enough to ward off any predator with Fur or a mustache.😂😂😂😂
So informative yet peaceful
Nice video. Already miss snowy days
You are nuts my friend.

Another awesome video. Inspiring stuff dude 👌👏
I love your style. Simple, direct, & get it done. From picking site, building shelter, & a cooking meal. I'd like to know where you got that saw? Great video. More pls. Thx
I get a kick out of this channel. "It's going to get really cold tonight, and the snow is going to pick up. Let's go camping in the woods!" But the information he gives is excellent. I knew some of it because I did some field geology and we would go camping. You had to be prepared for something unexpected. I do learn a lot by watching these vids though.
Brilliant job!
good vid, thumbs up
This is the kind of video i like
Cool primitive camp.
Dang nice saw
you are awesome
Thanks for sharing this cool video with us, makes me want to go camping...
Great video mate, love the content!
Real woodsman awesome gentleman
That's a cold night but damn you still have flowing water. 🙃 I can be a bit of a wus winter camping here in Alberta. I use my home made tipi and wood stove. This year is my 50th so I'm going a bit comfy but still keeping up on skills. You never know when they will be needed. Nature has a way of dealing out a can of whoop ass.
Great video. Hope you make more.
Anyone else just burst out laughing at 4:30 when he just falls down on the branches😂
Nice Video, the shelter looks pretty nice.😊
Excellent
Nice video. Beautiful location and your shelter looked perfect.
Steak looked fantastic.
Awesome video as usual keep the long videos a coming man an thank you
Real man❤
Awesome hello from Arkansas.. nice skills to have..
Great survival film, beautiful use of land for living
This is really impressive
Great video ! Lots of practical tips !! Well done sir!
Excellent video
looks cozy
👍🤩💝 I love these videos. ❓Coyotes?….Why do I think about & worry about creepy spiders when I’m out camping? 😩
i like the concept of bushcraft as you help reduce the duff layer and debris on the floor to protect the live trees from fire. Fire is natural but clearing out the drued dead debris is healthy.
I didn't know you make full length videos. I do overnighters videos as well, I think you'll like them. That was a cool shelter in between those rocks, and the long log fire really lasts long 🫡
"Beautiful custom-built mattress" After purchasing and testing it, and had you not mentioned it, I WOOD have never guessed.🛌
That shelter would have been a sauna if you lined it with a reflective blanket
If you build a reflector, it does 2 things, 1: blocks the fire from wind 2:, once reflector warms from the fire, it creates a natural convection air current, that will draw the smoke, away from your shelter
Your wife lucky to have you, you will both survive harsh weather. You.make everything look so easy.👍 About that water you collected? I don't think i can collect it like that. How you cleaning it? Tablets?
has anyone told you that you have a lovely voice? honestly i love it
Hello. Great video. Can you please tell what saw did you use? Thank you very much and keep going to inspire people to go in nature. What permit you need to make the fire and the king size bedroom?

Can't wait for summer camping
The comedy is outstanding. Hilarious!
Outstanding
I have been looking for you to subscribe for more content as I appreciate not having to look away during previews that the other bushcraft channels use to take up space.
Hopefully you have a weapon for protection from the coyotes. They might decide you are dinner
sooo nice and warm ... i love it
love it man. Makes me wanna go camping again
I like this guy 💯 great content
Nice video! Always creative 🌟❤️🔥
Good video. Thanks.
You're making me want to learn how to camp
Awesome!!
When breath stoking your fire always remember the beard to flame safety radius. I like about 12.5 " 🔥🤪
I like your style, mine almost same :D
That saw is amazing, Can you link it in the chat???

Corona Razortooth pruning saw I picked up at Lowes. It doesn't come with a sheath unfortunately, so I had to buy a chainsaw scabbard for it. There are also good folding saws out there, like the Silky Big Boy. More expensive and smaller blade than my Corona though, but they fold up nicely
