A simple file guide is a knife making tool for beginners that is used to while grinding blades to create symmetrical plunges. While learning how to make knives, the beginner knife maker should invest a small amount of time to make a simple file guide rather than buying knife jig for sale. While freehand grinding the bevels on a knife, it is very difficult to maintain symmetrical plunges. Over the years Knife Maker Gillian tried using masking tape, sharpies, and files to make the plunges symmetrical, before finally creating a knife making jig, that incorporates the simple to make plunge grinding jig.
