How To Make a Crawfish Boil with Isaac Toups

Ойын-сауық

Louisiana chef Isaac Toups stopped by the MUNCHIES Test Kitchen to show us how to cook and properly eat a Cajun crawfish boil.
From releasing a crawfish into the wild to playing knife games, Isaac embodies his Cajun roots and passion for rustic, down-home cooking. If you’re looking to feed a hungry crowd and don’t mind making a bit of a mess, this crawfish boil is for you!

Growing up I saved a baby alligator snapping turtle from fishing net and kept her over the winter in an aquarium. I gave her some crayfish buddies from the stream but they did not become fast friends :/. They fearlessly mobbed the turtle and she systematically murdered them all in about 5 minutes, ate what looked like her body mass worth of their mangled corpses and proceeded to sit happily on her rock for nearly a full day. Sometimes I go back to the pond where she lives and tell her about the lobsters at the grocery store. The morale of the story is I'm hungry and your head reminded me of snappy. I miss you snappy.

As a Cajun, we season the actual boil. Not sprinkle the outside of the crawfish with seasoning. When you season the boil itself it makes the crawfish meat spicy and adds flavor.
