I tried putting spray adhesive onto a Masonite board and then laying flat the canvas on top. I played with screen printing gesso through at 24 T sized screen (T-shirt print size mesh). I put three coats over 3 days. Took a rubber sanding block (Auto Parts Store) and some 600 "wet and dry" sand paper. 15 or so minutes it was flat and smooth like the old "CS 10" art board. I then took a 240 T screen and put a final coat as the base for my art work.(no sanding). At this point you can work with the canvas still on the Masonite board or as I did stretch it over the stretcher frame. With this process I could use it for airbrush work or using paint brushes. Note; the spray adhesive was 3M Photo Mount adhesive, which isn't that strong and makes for a simple removal of the canvas.

Thank you for this video! Have you ever tried mixing plaster of Paris with your gesso to fill in the texture in one pass? Curious if this material would have any downsides

I'd think that plaster is less pliable and could cause cracking

Gesso the standard for priming a canvas I'm not sure I'd try something untested 🙂

Good, but...and after years coming what happens? Will be there any risk of cracking?

No there shouldn't be a problem. Many artist extra gesso coat factory canvases for protection and this isn't any different other than the method of application

You could use linen canvases or panels

I always use Atm card to spread Gesso.😂😂😂
