It's all about selling tickets. Of course that's easier said than done, but here are 5 tips to help self-promote as either an amateur or pro fighter. Another tip, which may seem like an obvious one: be friendly and get along with the promoters and presidents of the fight organizations!

Ren Noir Suzugamori I'm not too worried about ground game, cats always land on their feet lol, so I wouldn't get caught up in ground game. whenever I would wrestle with some friends who are athletes btw (mma practitioneer, marine, HS wrestler, jrotc) they would try to do takedowns and I would always flip right back up to my feet lol. but yeah your right, submissions will always be the downfall of Stand up fighters.. Only problem is... Where TF do I get started?!?!?!?! I'm ready to beat people up, make money, do advertisements, live the dream!!

Believe me I find ground fighting stupid imao but you do need it if you intend to shift to mma, they'll know you're good at striking because of your boxing background so they'll attempt to take you down with a submission, but if you know to counter them you'll be like "surprise bitch" then proceed to knock their face in.

You gotta be a special kind of crazy go put yourself in a cage with another man intent on beating the fuck out of you. Plenty of people train, plenty of people are great martial artists, very few people have what it takes to be a pro fighter. Even less, to become a champ.

Learn to take punches without shock. Takes training. By 15 i could run and dive forhead planted into the fridge door and walk away. Never been knocked out...did stutter alot for a bit and forget lots stuff. But wont get knocked out. Second learn in street fights you cant quit...hes choking you out you cant tap..u have start breaking his fingers one by one or twist his ears and try to yank them.off or lower lip rip. Eye gouges last resort cuz eyes can be permanant and im a softy. A good punch is aiming for when theybswing with right hook do a fast jab to armpit area while its opened. Street fighting isnt ufc. Ive had as many as 32 poundjg me i always walk away but they didnt always walk away. But my gramps was trained close qtrs submarine combat and he was a brutal man to learn from, but my dad may been worse. If your not prepared for the above you have no business fighting in the street go buy a belt or something and play in the gym

Great video! (as always) however you forgot to add the most important point and path to your dreams. hard work. You have to live eat and breathe MMA. It has to be part of your daily life and you should be training a minimum of 3 classes a week at LEAST. You have to embrace that passion and give it your everything in every training session. Then theres the matter of being noticed by your coaches. Not everyone is destined to be a UFC fighter. Dana White did a very good video on what it takes to be a UFC fighter :)

@ what age should you pursue a boxing career I'm 17 and have not stepped into a boxing gym. Is it to late for me to look into the boxing industry? I haven't stepped in a ring, I'm a street fighter and if I say so myself I fight pretty good. Just wondering if I had to start boxing at a early age

When you think about it, it all breaks down to money you gotta sell yourself no matter what you do, whether you're an ufc fighter a boxer a doctor a lawyer money seems to be the only thing that matters i'm tired of it but i still need it.

I wanna get into in MMA but it's tricky to find anything about the women's division in my area. I've trained in Krav Maga since 2012 and wanna try something that can lead to competitions and rising through the ranks and since krav doesn't really do competitions, I wanna get into a sport that does and MMA looks like the closest thing. I'm not so keen on jiu jitsu coz it has no striking or boxing coz it has no kicking or grappling. Muay Thai would be interesting but I don't really wanna mix it up with my Krav stuff. MMA feels like the closest to Krav in terms of diversity in movements and combinations. And lol who doesn't dream of being on screen and winning stuff. Although lol I wonder how I'd make the social media thing work since my social media presence right now is more geared towards art. I might have to develop a different name for my fighting side and for my art side. Or yolo and make it work when that day comes.

Can you do a video on endurance training to be like the best of the best in footwork: Dominick Cruz

Why you need a video? Just go with 100lb backpack hiking 4hrs the day you have dance class. Then stretches and go to dance class..youll be dying and wanting to cry but soon youll need hike 4am to noon to feel like dying in dance practice at 1pm to 3pm. Nothing is better for footwork than dance. Leave fighting practice to fighting want better footwork go to the footwork masters. Now im not talking modern dance, im talking classical dance, swayze dance. Swayze looked like a real badass and he was just a dancer. Many dancers entering martial arts cream the comp very fast. I myself put lot of faith in foundation practice(feet and legs) so im happy to see you wanting to learn the important stuff often over looked

I had unique style of martial arts like combineing all martial arts philosophy. I got trained in wing chun, muay thai, jeet kune do and wcs. I created my own style M.W.C(MORDEN WARFARE COMBAT). I used to fight in street. Can i go and fight as amateur in mma fights to get recognition from mma. I had only street wins. Not tournament wins.

+K UFC learn how to roll with the punches and train your trapezius muscles (traps). Also, keep your eyes open and be aware. I know it seems like it kinda sucks as a tip, but many knockouts don't come from powerful shots, but from shots that the fighter just didn't see coming and therefore wasn't able to prepare himself to take the hit. But honestly, like everything, it's also genetics.

shane theirs a couple of things you forgot to put in their, to be a good fighter you got to train like a champion, meaning you got to do strength and conditioning, you got to train as an amateur atlas 2 hrs a day ( if your serious 4 hrs a day) and you got to do cardio like cycling swimming and running. just saying that you forgot to say some of that stuff

For me Fedor, Randy Couture and GSP are good examples for young athletes to look up to. Not arrogant and big talkers, but doers. "What good is it if you gain the world and you lose your soul". Also Shane are your hands really white compared to your arms?

The look on my friend's and family's faces when they see me on TV whooping ass and earning the title of champion. It's so exciting to think about. I will make it happen one day

I’m 15 and I’ve got about ten years of training in boxing, kickboxing, wing chun, judo, and jiu jitsu. I want to become a pro MMA fighter but I also wanna go to uni so I at least have god qualifications to fall back on if it doesn’t work out. I’m in uk and I have no idea how to make a career out of this. Any advice on how to start? (Ie finding fights, making money, etc). I’m a lightweight btw if that makes any difference. Thanks to anybody who can help
