Brilliant idea I think once you've built the frame you could cover it in Fiberglass and using a 20mm bending spring may also help.

Nice project! Last summer we did something similar on our channel. Cling wrap and tape on a pvc frame. Cheap and lots of fun. We Made a video about the actual building, and multiple compilations about actually testing the boat on an 8km trip with two person in the boat.

How long was the pvc pipe that was used?

I gotta try this. Wondering if filling the pvc with sand before bending like they do when bending complex shapes in to metal pipe would have the same effect and stop it from kinking. Just dump the sand out once it's bent.
