Scott, last year I added a small modification to the cape. I made a narrow pocket down each side of the cape, just wide enough to fit a thin 3’ wooden dowel. This allows me to hold the dowels when I lift my arms, displaying a very impressive 10’ wingspan. Thought your Batman fans might like to add this addition to your magnificent design.

yo that sounds so fucking cool, thank you for the brilliant idea
Dude!!! You totally rock! My SIL asked me to make some super hero capes for her VBS this month. I have been going nuts trying to decide how to do them since I'm fairly new to sewing. Then I found your videos ..... WHOA!!!! You just rock. I can't follow a pattern to save my life and you speak my language ... I can follow your directions to a T. Love it! Thank you!!!!
Hey Scott. New to the channel but just wanted to thank you for these tutorials. I'm starting to get into cosplay and costuming and I want my first build to be a recreation of Batman from the 1992 Animated Series so these tutorials are going to come in real handy for guides as I start to plan and prepare for the work. You're really informative while keeping the instructions very clear to follow and understand so I really appreciate it!
Scott, God bless ... you ROCK! A few years back I decided to become Batman for Mardi Gras. I bought a 1960's costume and the reaction I got from kids along the parade route was amazing. So each year I upgraded a little. I now have the 80;s or 90's version costume.When I was looking into getting a new cowl, I came across your video describing modifications to the Rubbie cowl and then this video. You did an amazing job explaining everything and made it extremely simple for someone who had never used a sewing machine to make the cape and hood.I think mine came out GREAT and I would have never known how to do it without your help! So I can't thank you enough for posting these amazing videos. You're helping me put a lot of smiles on the faces of people here in New Orleans the next couple of weeks.

Hello Sir. Thank You for this tutorial. I am doing a Batman: The Animated Series costume to put in an appearance with a group of developmentally disable kids and the cape was alluding me. I'm terrified to make this thing, haven't sewed much since college, but your tutorial has helped me tremendously!

I'm planning to make a Batman costume based on his very first appearance (detective comics #27), but could figure out how to join the cowl onto the cape. Now I know I don't. Thanks for the video
Great video (same for the one about restoring the rubies cowl) - thanks for sharing! I'm thinking of attempting... can you tell me if the cape can open up with extensions to give the full batwing appearance like in Michael Keaton;s costume, please? Also, how do you find stretch pleather online that doesn't have that grey mesh fabric on the reverse side?
Plus your channel is cool.
looked great
thinks for the tip of the video could use some tips cuz I am making a batman suit right I just need some tips on it right now some can I use like a Under Armour shirt and pants to use it for the Batman suit it's made out of spandex material and I was wondering if I could use that to make the Batman suit out of
Brilliant Thank you so much
Well I followed you pattern but messed up on attaching the hood to the cape. I'm thinking about leaving it unattached as I already made the cape part but trimmed way too much from the neck because of a screw up. New to sewing and I don't want to mess up again until I have more experience. Anyway I livestream and plan on giving you the credit on the how to while doing my cosplay Arkham livestream
Have you done a doj cape? i'd love to see that.
Question with the Batman Hood and Batman cowl face can they work well together to make an awesome batman mask
Difficult to find leather. So I made a pink batman cape and hood. So cute:-D ¤ GO BATMAN!!!!!!!!!
Subscribed.
ok I'm going to make the ben affleck batman cape and how it looks is the ends of the wing where it drops from your shoulders and it not a six pice its a four pice and all put together it has four of thoughs arches my question is do i fold the larger pice in half or do i cut one big arch what i mean is when you first started to cut the fabric into the triangle would i just cut the full arch or would i just fold it to give it one big curve
God bless you as well very nice job sir
I am doing a Red Robin Cape which is really similar to batmans cape and im not talking about new 52 Red Robin. but when you make the hood would you advise make that the mask as well ?
How did u make the belt
And of course you could apply the same methods to make a gimp suit Tho for real this is decent
I've made one of these before and now I'm making a new one, which fabric from either shop did you get. Does it have a matte finish? And does it have a leather texture? If you have a link it'd be fantastic. Would you recommend 4 or 2 way stretch? Thanks, I live the current one I have but I need a new one that fits under my new cowl and has a different texture, I need a matte black with a leather texture for it to match up.
I have a batman cowl and it has wrinkles and i put my cape in the cowl so it would get its original shape back will that help or not?
Cool video dude:).
Hi I was wondering about the material. It says 4.6 yards then it said 6 yards. I just ordred 5 yards. Do you think that will be enough for the cape? Thanks. You make great videos! Thanks!

super costume! but I have a question. how can I make the boots? Thank you for this tutorial.
i know you may have posted this a while ago but i was wondering, where did you get the main suit and how much was it because it looks awesome!!!
hey man can you please do a tutorial on printing that bat on your batman costume

Scott, can you provide a link of where you got the grey spandex suit and can you briefly explain how to put your own logo (the bat symbol) on it?
@ScottBayles

+Jean-Paul Juge I actually made the spandex suit myself. The fabric comes from www.spandexhouse.com (gunmetal grey, miliskin spandex). You can buy similar bodysuits online, however. You might try using Under Armor as well. The Bat is sewn on, also made of spandex. But I might do a tutorial soon and making the emblem.
Thank. You.
I already have a cape and a cowl but it's not attached any advice to attached it
I love you videos there so informative and simple to follow! I was wondering what material you used to make the body suit itself (gray)? I was looking for a stretchy fabric like maybe spandex or lycra, but I'm not sure. I want the suit to be fitted and not see through, but not to be so tight or stiff. I'm going the be making the new 52 Superman costume for my boyfriend for the con.

BloodLoved 10 Thanks! I always by my spandex material from www.spandexworld.com or www.spandexhouse.com, and I always use the "miliskin spandex." And if you're looking for a pattern to follow, Simplicity actually makes cosplay patterns now. I know they offer Batgirl, Supergirl, Captain America and Thor. Hopefully they will have a Batman/Superman pattern soon too.
Hey Scott, I was wandering if you've ever tried to make holes or some type of holders for stick in a cape so you could do the whole Batman '89 thing. Would be awesome if you have and I wouldn't mind a tutorial, because all of your work is brilliant (especially the muscle suit)
@ScottBayles
8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have not tried that yet, but I plan to with my next cape.
Do you know where it can buy comic actuate Batman briefs like his Batman style?
The Coolest Ever!
Scott, this is a truly wonderful, clear tutorial! Before I saw it, I was going nuts trying measure out the panels without wasting fabric. Your steps make it look so simple... But here's a question: if you're just going to cut a hole at the top for your head, why do you need to lock that stitch? I plan on making one without the hood and just attaches at the top. Should I lock the stitches below what will be my neck hole? Thanks!
@ScottBayles
7 жыл бұрын
The only reason I lock those stitches is to keep the seams from coming apart before I cut the neck line, but it you don't want to take the extra time/thread to do that, just be careful with it until you cut the neck.

@@ScottBayles 6 years late, but does this mean you didn't have to re-stitch the panels after you cut the neckline?
how big of a circle did you initially cut for the neck in the cape. thanks.
can you make the flash suit of cw series?
Hi Scott, I really enjoy watching your videos! Did you make your Batman gloves?

I got black sw fake leather from spandex world how to cut material of bat cape
could you use any other synthetics like polyester or nylon?
ive been working on a wolverine cosplay for fanboy expo in Knoxville and I've got the claws and everything set for the most part but I just need a cowl. I actually have one of those latex cowls that you can find online for about $14. For the most part it's a pretty decent mask but what I want to know is if you could make a tutorial of how to make a wolverine cowl or to edit one like the one I have or another model.

I'm using your design to make a Space Ghost costume. :)
I did the same thing as you and one side is always short ive redone it multiple times it used 70 inches and the sides always come out short. would you be able to do this for me if i paid you?
ok, I followed the cape tutorial, but altered it for batgirl, but now im looking for a quieter material any idea of what I should use? Pleather is freaking loud.

Hey man, What is the best way to seal the back of a latex cowl?
I only plasti diped the neck portion that shows for ventilation
Could you attach the cowl to the hood to make it all one peice?
After you cut the semi circle out from the head, how do you keep the tops of the panels from coming apart? Do you add some quick stitches?
@ScottBayles

You can. I didn't actually need to when making mine, but I was careful not to let the thread pull apart.
I like to make that costume for my DC comic fan films
Hi there please let me know also if you'd be willing to make me one of these. I'm working on a arkham knight suit for a convention this Halloween and I could really use the nudge it could give me with the cape.
Hi Scott, Can I ask where you got the Spandex costume with that Bat Symbol on it? I have tried to find that myself but the ones I have run across do not have that symbol.

+Carlos Rodriguez you can just use a straight stitch if you want, but I prefer using an overlocking stretch stitch. It's number #8 on most Brother sew machines.
I’m thinking about taking the instructions here, but altering it so that the hood is also the mask
