How To Make a 4×2×2 Wood Enclosure For Your Reptiles
Ойын-сауық
If you're trying to save money and have a decent looking enclosure instead of a tank then this will help.
I make my own wood enclosure and in the future I plan to start doing pvc enclosures.

At 3:08 wouldn't you want to cut the boards to be about 46 1/2 inches long and not 22 1/2 inches? That part confused me a little but great video otherwise

Oh crap! You're right! I think I got confused with the length of the plexiglass. Good call! 8 hours of editing and I still made a little mistake, woops 😬
Thank you, this was perfect straightforward, nothing fancy, and it is functional!

Using the tracks for the plexiglass door is such a good idea. I was going to just put plexi glass inbetween two pieces of wood at the top and bottom so it can slide inbetween but the tracks will save material and effort thank you!

Yeah you missed the picture lol but no worries, I found it for you. I used tracks, which you can get from Amazon. In minute 2:23 you can see a picture of the one I got
Could you use belly heating for snakes on this enclosure? And if so, how?
@jpslizards
2 жыл бұрын
Definitely, but it would have to go inside. Exact how? That I wouldn't really know because I don't use them. You would need to make sure the mat is below something that can let the heat go thru, like glass
Will it hold too much heat if I don’t put vents since my tank is going to have inside heating bulbs ? Because I really don’t want to put vents on my snakes tank if I don’t have to, but I don’t want him to get too hot if I don’t
@jpslizards

Naw, since it's a big set up it has plenty of ventilation. It would probably only be bad if you want to add 2 basking areas
@jpslizards

On future set up that I make for my lizards I won't be adding vents anymore
How did you run the electrical cords out of the enclosure? I don’t think you showed that part.

On the vent that is on the right side I cut one corner and ran the cords from there. In minute 6:36 you can see it. Sorry if I forgot to mention that!

@jpslizards

Nope, not at all. These set ups are big and have good ventilation.
I used liquid nail to seal the inside corners… it’s been drying for 48 hours, some research tells me “liquid nails” is chemically inert once dried, is it still safe to put my reptile in with the corners having the liquid nail on inside corners?
@jpslizards
2 жыл бұрын
I would cut what dried on the outside. Normally you want to clean what comes out after nailing it together
@lasabrionwalton9935
2 жыл бұрын
I used it along the inside four corner of the back the tops and sides, as my build had quite a few gaps along the inside where the boards met (uneven cuts) There is a generous amount of this liquid nails now, I accidentally used it in replace of the silicone, will any residue or chemicals soak into the bedding and cause issues with my Boas skin? (I’m not worried about it being peeled of or eaten)
@jpslizards
2 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, I thought it was a lizard set up. As far as I know, no, it will be completely dry after a couple of days. I would still cut the extra stuff though. You can never be too careful. You can also waterproof the set up with drylock
