the content is so good, hope you get great success on your game
You can also select all vertices, press ctrl+shft+B and drag all corners at the same time. just a tip. ONLY on a Plane.
Using bevel after scaling the card on X/Z axes gives you asymmetric rounding. The rounding is stretched vertically and it can be clearly seen on the video. Better bevel the edges at 2.5"/2.5" and then move one side of the card for an inch.
Incredible, im working on a game card project and with our video i can do that, thank you !!
Dude amazing video, thanks so much.
what should be the size of the image on the card? (how many pixels?)

It shouldn’t matter. As long as it has a 2.5/3.5 ratio. My card art is 5000 x 7000 which would be a 2.5/3.5 ratio.
My UV Editor screen does not show a transparent view to edit the material frame to fit the image, instead it shows a solid green color. Is there any way to change this? Thanks in advance.

That is weird. Where is the green color coming from? Is it from an image or the color of the material?

@@byetodd it's meant to represent the material surface I am editing on the UV Editor; in your case, it's transparent but it's just a solid color to me :/ is there any way to setting that?
Great Vid! But the 2.5 x 3.5 dimensions (standard card size) are supposed to be inches not mm. You can add " after the value and Blender will do the maths for you.
Great
Great vid, but when I put the image on my card in unity it is way darker than it should be. Does anyone know why?

Could be missing a light source. Try doing the same with an unlit shader graph.

100 segments??? That's way too many, that is heavy weight topology. You are even better of using a 4 loopcuts and set the sub div modifier and the smooth. That will also round with far less topology.

@@byetodd You are bevelling the edges with 100 segments, so thats 100 verts on 4 edges thats 400 verts per card. You can do this without bevel and have the subdivision modifier do that. If you get me your email I can send you a blend file, that has a rounded corner and only a fraction of the vertices. That will (in a busy game with a lot of objects) speed it up, since it has to move less verts. BTW love the card back design!

@@byetodd On it's way Todd. You can delete your comment now before people spam you silly :D Keep up the great work. If you have some other blender questions you know where you can find me. I've been using Blender for a long time and even used it in film and TV productions. And I now want to add it into Unity. I love the art work you are doing and the concept of the game sounds interesting. Good luck man!

Us Dutch say: Meten == Weten or in English: To measure is to know. With the least amount of edges and subdivision level 2 I can get to 482 verts and 480 faces. Subdivision level 1 which is also passible, but that depends on the game setup: 122 verts and 120 faces Subdivision level 2: 482 verts 480 faces (960 tris) The bevel method: 808 verts (100 verts on each side of each corner) 406 faces and a weird 1612 tris -> that I can't explain. But Tris is what are pushed in a game engine. So a card with subdivision modeling and only 4 loop cuts saves significantly. If you start to add loop cuts the bevel method is cheaper.
:)
as a blender user it hurt me so much when you said: "Lets do 100" in bevel. Believe me 5 is enough. 5! Not 100! Also if you use [Cntr+A -> Scale] Method in Object mode before Bevel it'll be more round

@@byetodd I'm very new on Unity and I really appreciate your guides! Can you create your card directly on Unity (some kind of parallelepiped to use as prefab) or use a 3D program like Blender is the best way? Thanks!
