I planned on making a whole different video, that's what I was referencing when I mentioned the console error. I specifically intend to show which version/versions of Java you may need and how to change the default ram limit imposed by the newer versions. I just haven't gotten around to it honestly. Personally to make a server I haven't had to install a version of Java on any of my PCs thus far, but I know some people do.

is it a txt document still? if so you will need to enable file extensions. to do so go to the view tab of the file explorer and check “Display file extensions”. once that’s done you’ll be able to edit the name of the txt document and change it to a .bat rather than a .txt

so how can i update my server

Just replace the .jar with the newest version, update the start.bat with the new name or alternatively and quicker, make the .jar the same name as the old one.
