This is great for someone who really likes the new edge style and doesn't care about trying to be a racer boy. Like upgrading an old classic muscle car. Make it sound good with enough power to burn the tires and have a good time on a weekend cruise with the wife to a car show. No matter how much money you waste there will always be someone with a faster and better looking car than you. Most people spend years dumping tens of thousands into a project car then when they finally get it perfect they usually sell it and start all over again. An endless cycle of insanity.

Very well said! I couldn't agree more. Especially with this platform you can burn thousands real quick and still not have a fast car. The newedge style is and will be one of the best ever made IMO!

Exactly, say what you will, but those motors sound like a classic muscle car period. For some reason the Camaro/Firebird don’t have that sound despite having over 1.0 liter more of displacement.

Fun fact alot don't know the bullet mustang ford actually tuned the exhaust to sound like the Steve McQueen mustang the 03 04 mach1 they tuned the exhaust to sound like a 428 cobra jet so yes I'd have to agree they sound much like a muscle car. My experience the 2v while not the most powerful they are very tough and forgiving the 4v I've only had 1 still have it an so far it's been very temperamental.

Yeah the Fox 5.0 and the New Edge 4.6 both are among the absolute best sounding of all time. I have a new edge with long tubes, Xpipe and flowmasters and a friend has a 5.0 fox and they both sound similar and excellent! I’ve had some 4th gen F bodies and they don’t sound nearly as good but I’ve had a couple that sounded good and had great power but these Mustangs just sound so much better! My F body handled much better but just wasn’t as much fun to drive as my new edge. It just feels so much lighter probably because it is smaller and lighter. You can just throw the new edge around easier. It just teaches you better car control in my opinion and experience. I love both cars equally but the Stang is just way more fun no doubt!

Fun cars. Start with intake and exhaust (shop) get to know some local car guys and ask some questions. Suspension and a wider tire 10.5 rim (315 tire) is a good first mod. Short throw shifter, gears, those are great ways to start modding in a simple way and allows you to be hands on if you want. There aren’t many of these cars that are left stock, if you’re looking to buy one, save up a couple thousand cash for some first mods.

Zex makes a good kit too that’ll get you there lol. I’m actually looking for an old 2v new edge to start working on. Almost done with my 3v build now. Idk I guess I just like a challenge and don’t want a car note for a new coyote. You should see these camaro ss guys around here faces when I’m pulling away from them with a slow ass 3v. Haven’t put the 3v on the dyno but last week it ran a 12.8 @ 113mph on motor. With a terrible 2.12 60ft hoping for 11.5’s on a 100 shot may have to go up to 125. Still waiting for my nitrous tune from Lito now. Right now the car pretty much has every bolt on they make including hot rod cams still need an aluminum drive shaft. Just installed an adjustable rear upper and bracket rear lower relocation brackets and adjustable lowers and a stiffer panhard bar so hopefully next time out my 60ft will be a little better. Plan on doing about the same thing with a new edge except I’ll probably go with a centrifugal super charger instead of n2o

Well I ended up getting an 02 gt convertible one owner with 76k miles. 100% bone stock when I got it but I been busy. First I just lowered it tinted the windows and cut the mufflers off lol. Got a cold air intake, bbk 78mm plenum/tb nx nozzle wet kit on a 125 shot right now using a sct iTSX to tune it. I planned on doing cams but cam across a good deal on a 2.1 Kenne bell kit, some longtubes, performance automatic shift kit, fti 2800rpm stall and a set of cheap coil overs are all currently sitting in my garage just waiting for the time to do it all. But honestly with just the cai, plenum/tb and nitrous I think it’s doing pretty good. It went 12.6@101mph the other day on the street. Just have some 315/35/17 nitto 555g2 tires think it would do even better with a drag radial. Track opens back up this coming Wednesday and I borrowed my buddys drag pack. So we will know in just a few days what it’ll do ima keep the 125 shot to start but if all goes well ima make a hit or two with a 150 shot. I’ll jump back in here and update though.

Excellent video! Just my .02 after messing with these cars for over 20 years. Going to the bolt on route will nickel and dime you to death for very minimal gains. You'll spend thousands and MAYBE make 300 hp. The most cost effective way to make decent power in these cars is to just boost them. You can easily find used Vortech or Procharger kits for 2-2500 bucks. Install it with bigger fuel pump and injectors and go get it tuned. 400+ HP every time. The car will behave like a bone stock car with excellent drivability but have lots of power on demand.

For all you peeps that want some power for your 2v, if you want a big cam, you NEED to buy other things to maximize all the money you spent on the cam. You’re gonna need heads, intake, exhaust and a tune. If you just throw the cam, it really wont do a ton on its own. But this is al after you basically do a tune up and bullet proof the engine if you can. More than average power on an engine that hasn’t been treated well or restored to its factory potential is either gonna disappoint with its power gains or something is gonna break. But otherwise, a really good vid.

And, don't forget your suspension better shocks struts, springs combo, upgrade control arms and poly bushing everywhere. Maybe an adjustable panhard bar after lowering car and better brake pads and rotor. Now your good to go.

Great video, but you have to put the car in historical context. In 1999 a BMW M3 had 240 HP at the crank. I owned one new and still have it today. Short of a super car, the only vehicle that anything for me on the street was a Camaro/Firebird. I wanted a Firebird, unfortunately they were at least 5000 dollars more than a Mustang GT. Then one day I saw an Electric Green Mustang GT in the front line at Faulkner Ford. I was 22 and had to have it. Faulkner dissed me and I eventually bought my Electric Green 1999 GT from Brown Daub n Easton PA.

All GT's have a limited slip.. they just use a clutch/friction type limited slip not a viscous or torsen. hence the clutches wear out and the consistency of the locking decreases. they make better clutches that last a lot longer and are stronger, they are more predictable than a VLSD but still not quite as good as a Torsen type LSD.

Stock ejectors would be close to about 100% duty cycle if you have 300 rwhp, it’s not just the pump, that’s leaning things out, you need 24 pounders, for a 300 hp target that’s the ejector to have, with a reasonable duty cycle, yet no too much, the stock fuel pump working correctly is fine, stock injectors at 300rwhp, however, would not be, it’s just the math of it. Dyno tune and the tuner himself is vital….I use don lasota, to build the start up tune, and pro racer to fine tune fuel trims, myself, and dons excellent books , don teaches tuning, and he is they guy who did in fact write most all of the teach a tuner workbooks, he is the top tuner guy. Not only for tuning, but teaching the tuner! I hit 305, it took mhs, 2.5 cams, that work fine on the stock short block, however the valve margins need to be addressed, that is a super cam, from idle to hope no cops catch me, or I am going to jail….also the heads must be ported to hit anyplace close to 300 hp, NA, so the thick valve margin is taken care of at that time, did gasket match on heads and pi intake, supercar rockers, ford lightning maf, same bbk 78 , 24 pound ejectors, but a different jlt cold air intake, and exhaust stuff, basically nick McKinney’s old budget buster build…..sad that mhs removed all of nicks old formulas, he knew his stuff. It took awhile to hit 300 rwhp with a 4.6 mod motor , and nick was leading the charge, back in the day….. Next up is making 400rwhp NA, and I have a modular, 5.0 all bore, boss block , ported trickflows 2v heads and a plan, time will tell, but I have time, the above engine is still running strong, after 5 years of beating on it, drag races, and few street ummm challenges let’s say, getting 300 rwhp in a new edge, that is 1000 pounds lighter than a coyote car, is a bunch of fun… true 300 rwhp is not an easy task, NA, but it can be done. You can not overlook anything, though, and you running lean on tune, made that point. Bet ya anything it was not the pump, but the ejectors that had you run lean!

Fuel flow requirement = (brake horsepower) x (BSFC) Example: A 300 hp naturally aspirated gasoline-powered V8 requires what size fuel injector? First, assume a BSFC of 0.50 lb/hr and injection pressure of 39.15psi across the injector. 300 hp x 0.50 lb/hp-hr = 150 lb/hr maximum total fuel flow requirement Since this is the total fuel flow requirement to the engine, we must now divide this by the number of injectors being used to determine the flow rate necessary for each injector so that you can select the correct size injector from this catalog. In this example, we have an 8-cylinder engine using 1 injector per cylinder, which gives: 150 lb/hr/8 injectors = 18.8 lb/hr per cylinder , a 19 pounder would be at its limit…….that’s my point here…..

Technically it's a Maaco paint job so I don't think it's Ford spec but it's the closest to the Ford black paint code!

Found this on a SVT forum from couple years ago which explains it pretty well. "Kenne bell makes a kit for the stock 2v, and torq tech makes kits that allow you to put superchargers designed for the 4v motor onto your 2v. Both will replace your intake manifold, throttle bodies, intakes, fuel pumps and MAF."

That’s the thing about the new edge when you lower them. The exhaust scratches the pavement . That’s why on my mustang I don’t have a full exhaust no cats no mufflers just straight pipes coming out from side exhaust.not legal but who gives a shit when your in Texas lol

Strange that a 1957 283 Chevrolet made 283 horsepower, now over forty years later a 4.6 2valve ford in a crown vic makes about a hundred horsepower less.

I'm doing the same cams, 75mm Plenum, UD pulleys, and I put in 12cc pistons, stock manifolds with bassani off road x pipe, flow master cat back, and 3.73s. I'm interested to see what it puts out.
