    4v here. Really enjoying seeing the New Edges finally getting the respect they deserve. Some roll up your sleeves kinda work is all it takes to make them a rocketship, most people arent that committed to modding a car unless they feel its worth it. Great for a hurt-your-feelings mobile in a world of scat packs and 10 speed coyotes.

    Turbo is more efficient so you can run more power without seeing any more stress. You can get away with higher power levels with a turbo setup. Many people don't realize this. Your power level with a turbo would be like 430-450 rwhp stress wise because the turbo doesn't take power to make power so you're getting more power without seeing any more stress. That's what appropriately sized turbo will make more than a blower for each boost level.

    I had an 01 and 03 GT the last 17 years. Wound up getting hit by a drunk driver in the 03 which totaled it. Took the insurance company payout and bought a 98 Trans Am to replace it. I'm really happy with the TA but when my rear end inevitably goes (junk 10 bolt), I'm getting an 8.8 out of a Mustang to replace it. Loved my Mustangs, also had a non PI motor 4.6 97 Thunderbird that I wound up swapping a PI intake manifold on when the factory intake manifold cracked. Had to do some modifications but otherwise it helped HP and torque along with a tune, a Cai, port and polished throttle body, some tokico shocks, cat back exhaust, and high flow cats. Mod motors sound amazing done right.

  • @FWDSUXARSE

    @FWDSUXARSE

    03 was full bolt on when I bought it but the stock LS1 when I first bought my car still seemed stronger. I've since done numerous modifications to the TA so the gap widened even more. But I still have a soft spot for the 2v 99-04 GT

    I had the option to go with a custom assembled kit. My local speed shop came back with a quote of like 8500 dollars. Don't remember the specifics. But I ended up going with a Vortech V3. Car made 392 to the tire on 14 LBS with a snow performance kit, non intercooled. I'm very pleased with it, it's fun to drive and I still get great fuel economy if I decide to take it to work. But I've hit the same wall as you, the stock pistons. This winter I plan on keeping the stock block but running all forged internals and a windage tray.

BUT came with BBK CAI, SR lowering springs, SR traction bars, and new black bullet rims and tires..Ive got Magnaflow Competition Series Dual Dump Cat-Back Exhaust connected to the factory H pipe atm, but have Hooker Blackheart xpipe brand new waiting to be installed..bought chrome knockoff "bbk" long tube headers but cant use because mine is a automatic. With my current set up and stock throttle body (i think 65mm) would I get same results as you have with yours? Or do I need the BBK 73mm throttle body and plenum? I dont know of any shorty headers that are made specifically for new edge's with auto do you?

    Great review. I am on the On3Performance site and trying to configure for that same 2v Forward Facing Single Turbo System. What specific additions/parts do you have or recommend based on your setup? I have a 99 GT convertible and am going to get this versus the Vortech. Appreciate your input! Keep up the good work! I also enjoyed the Dr. Drew engine block removal technique. Never knew you could actually do it that way!

    Thank you! And funny enough Dr. Drew actually has a kit with almost everything you need in it to get started. It's a brand new kit. Message him on Instagram at sleeper_solutions. Any other odds and ends he can help with I'm sure. I would say it's important to have an overbuilt fuel system (injectors and pump), good intercooler/ thermostat, and a very good tuner tune the car! But yeah it was crazy to pull the engine that way but it did indeed work!

    @@RatchetWrenches Thank you for informative and enjoyable videos. I will reach out to Dr. Drew. I know both of you have the experience to install all of this, where I am not at all mechanically inclined and have limited resources to do this myself. Two Questions, if you can answer: (1.) Any idea what it would cost to use a tuner shop installer?, (2.) My car has 52k original miles and one owner. Will this turbo kit be okay given the mileage? Thank you again. Alfredo

    @@apantale glad you enjoy the content! And I've only heard of one estimate of a shops labor costs to install the kit and tune the car and that was around $3,000. As long as you have big enough injectors/fuel pump, a good safe tune up, and keep it under 450ish HP, in theory you shouldn't have any problems!

I think these Mod motors are worth building bcuz the blocks can handle over 1k hp.. Doing anything other than just forged internals n boost is simply to not need to use more lbs of boost to make more power which would generate more heat..

    @@RatchetWrenches That's enough for a good time without getting to wild. Thanks for the video! Mine is so good NA my issue would be id have to stop driving it to complete the project LOL. They keep giving me a company vehicle then taking it away then giving it back... maybe if they'd make up their minds I could commit to taking it out of service for awhile. I just dropped a bunch of money on my personal work truck just for them to give me a brand new F250 2 days later, but I have a feeling I'll lose it the minute they find a new foreman 🤔. Hows your MPG's now? I average 33mpg right now ha. That's why it turned into a work car. Plus who doesnt love ripping around on the clock?! My personal truck gets 11mpg and is too big to park in the city so it sits for the snow days.

    Dude thee cars rip when they’re boosted. 400whp in a new edge rolls the fuck out. They’re not heavy cars. And with good suspension they handle on rails too.

    Exactly! They really do. We got big things planned with this for next year, building the motor soon and ramping up the boost even more.
