    @@LucidDreamPortal so, I have a question regarding reality checks, and there is probably a valid answer lol. If youre performing reality checks all through the day, and they always show that youre in reality, isnt it possible that when dreaming, if you dream you just did a reality check, and youre used to experiencing a reality check in waking hours (say you pinch your nose and compare the breathing) everything could seem normal since thats how the outcome always is in reality? Just a question I had and I really think this is an interesting topic.

    the last two advices are nice I mean trying to induce lucid dream after waking up and once the sleep is interrupted involuntarily. it is more practical and more importantly even i someone fails to induce lucid dream it doesn't cause disappointment as in case you wake up voluntarily and then fail.

    I just had my first lucid dream of the year today! It was one of these "morning nap" regained awareness kinds. It was a bit short, but not bad, as I have had a bit of a dry spell lately. Almost all of my LDs have been the regained awareness kind. Only a couple times have I had a maintained awareness one, and they have been really short, with me waking up from them suddenly. Here is a bit about the LD I had this morning: Out on a city street, I recognize a common dream sign of mine, and suspecting it is a dream, I immediately look at my hands. One hand was normal, but the other was a deformed foot! (My hands don't always look wrong in dreams, but it has happened a fair amount.) I forget to do more reality tests after that, (gotta remember to do that next time). I immediately go to talk to the nearest group of dream characters. I ask them, "What can you tell me about myself that I need to think about?" (this was something I had previously decided to ask DCs as a dream goal.) They all just freeze, get a blank look on their face, and then their left sides disappear, as if erased in Photoshop or something! I seek out another person I saw walking by, and ask him something similar, like "What can you tell me about myself?" He replies in a dopey-sounding voice, "Duhhh... you seem like an honest and nice person..." I can't tell if my subconscious was sarcastically making fun of me or what. HAHA!

    A really great tip that got me to lucid dream is to repeat an action throughout the day and ask yourself “am I dreaming?” I just tap the tip of my fingers together. It’s really good and it’s all that you need to do. No waking up in the night or anything. It worked for me within a few days

    A lot of my priority has shifted over towards things that help my chances with regained awareness. In nearly two years of going at it, I’ve yet to even experience so much as hypnagogia, much less a maintained awareness dream. I’m not sure if it’s just a side effect of being someone who takes a long time to fall asleep and then tend to stay asleep for very long periods unless roused…or I just keep missing the rem periods . On the one hand, it has caused lackluster results when trying morning naps, but it also has gotten me to cut down on setting alarms at night to take a shot at a maintained awareness, which has probably helped my sleep health.

    What I've been doing is trying to go to bed while thinking of where I want to start in a dream, like where I want to end up. You'll have to lay there for a while, focusing on an anchor, and also on where you want to start the dream. Iches, hallucinations, etc. are just your brain testing to see if your awake. Ignore it. After a qhile, you'll start to slip into sleep and such. You'll have to practice for a while, but try this with one of the normal lucid techniques, then slowly try it alone.

    LaBerge was talking about morning naps in his article he concluded that there are more chances to get it in morning naps, I watched this video quickly but in morning naps your mind is also sensitive for external signals, you can induce lucid dream or any dream using "scripts" (I use this like I wake up play script and I hear it in dream or later I get shor nap, it could be used with dream compression - you wake up do something for 2 hours and get back it was described in ETWoLD) but this could be tricky and your mind could deceive you, the best ways is like you told using naps with WILD / MILD

    Hi Jim, thank you for your kind support - it's hugely appreciated. In the early days it's common for people to get lucid at the end of REM, so waking up is inevitable. Over time you'll start to become lucid nearer the start of the dream and this will lead to longer dreams. You should also try practicing relaxation techniques to that you are ready and calm when lucidity occurs. Be careful not to *expect* to wake up, remember that this is just a passing phase for those new to the subject. I hope that answers your question!

    Hi Riz, firstly thanks for the kind donation, I really appreciate it. A few small studies have shown that VR can actually increase chances of lucidity, and improve dream control. I've certainly found that in the early days of using VR the novelty certainly enhanced dreaming, which lent itself to a little more lucidity than usual (hard to tell as my frequency is already high). I don't think it has a huge impact other than reminding the brain that alternative "realities" are possible, and can be beneficial for dream control reframing. I hope that helps!

    I've been practicing LD for about a year now and have had around a dozen LD. I Started off strong and did everything by the book, thanks to my dedication and enthusiasm on the subject as well as your wonderful teachings. I would always record my dreams on my phone in the morning or during the night when i would awaken and then log them in my journal later on that evening after work, not enough time in the morning beforehand. One thing I have not always enjoyed though is writing down my dreams. I usually recall 3 - 6 or more dreams per night about 5 - 7 times per week. Some dreams are very long and numerous and It takes me a while to write down all the details and how I felt emotionally during different situations in these dreams. It sometimes takes me 2 or more hours journaling all of these dreams every evening. I am very grateful that I learned how to recall my dreams consistently but don't always have the time nor the desire to journal them, and just voice recording them I feel just isn't thorough enough. I slowly suspended my LD lifestyle about 3 months ago because of the Journaling and I was also getting burned out on performing all the reality tests everyday. I feel disappointed and guilty for quitting because I loved this practice and phenomenon so much when involved. That damn dream journal has really been an issue though. What advice can you give me pertaining to this? I would really like to get back into this way of life but I feel like I have to go all out and do it the right way or not at all. Thank you again for all that you have taught myself and others in this crazy way of the brain.

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    Remember dream journals are a map of the territory. A map only needs to be functional to use for navigation. From your post I can see that, similar to me, you have a tendency to be verbose (it's a curse right 🤣). But here's how to get around this. Two descriptions of the same thing; 1) a citrus fruit that belongs to the family Rutaceae and the genus Citrus. The fruit is a hesperidium, which is a type of berry that has a tough, leathery rind and is divided into segments filled with juicy, pulpy flesh. The rind, or peel, is typically between 2-3mm thick and is covered in an oily substance called citral, which gives the fruit its characteristic scent. The flesh of is divided into segments called carpels, which are filled with juice and tiny seeds. A good source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and other nutrients. They are typically round or slightly flattened, and their color can range from orange to reddish-orange. The scientific name is Citrus sinensis. Or: 2) A large orange coloured citrus fruit. Or in other words, not all details need to be recorded if the shorter version contains enough information for you to piece together the rest. In the early days detailed journals are beter as you need to establish what are the salient details, but once you get a feel for what details are important, you don't want to be spending more than 15 mins journalling in the longer term. Hope that helps..

    This explains why I often have extremely vivid dreams whenever I go back to sleep after waking up earlier than usual. Speaking of which, I recently had my second lucid dream! It was through regained awareness and the lucidity lasted several minutes longer than my first one. I found it interesting how I had it when I did because my dream recall was really bad for several days before I had it. I tried levitating and changing the scenery by going under some bedsheets and getting out (not sure how I came up with this one), but nothing worked, and I wound up waking up without really accomplishing anything other than wandering around my house and seeing how my town looked a little different outside the window. Is there anything I can do to do things more efficiently?

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    @LucidDreamPortal

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm really glad to hear that you had a successful second lucid dream - congratulations! And it's intriguing that your dream recall wasn't very strong in the days leading up to it. I'd suggest that in order to increase efficiency in your lucid dreams, it's helpful to have a clear goal in mind before entering the dream state. This will help you stay focused and motivated to accomplish something. Also, practicing visualization and setting intentions while awake can make it a lot easier to control your actions in the dream. Remember to stay relaxed and believe in your ability to accomplish your goals - this can help you maintain lucidity and try new things in the dream world. I hope these tips help you on your journey - stay lucid!

    I might be having maintained awareness dreams during morning naps already, but it sometimes feels mote like I am actually awake and just turning my dream into a daydream. They feel quite vivid still but there is a constant awareness that I am actually awake and where my body is lying which leads to my dreams in this state being mostly me as a body less consciousness that can interact. Is that still a lucid dream or just a daydream?

    So I've been missing out on 50% of potential lucids?! 50%?! Time to put on the dunce hat again... I do often try to take advantage of natural awakenings in the night, which happen at least once a night. It's quite difficult to tip-toe the line of focus but not too much to keep myself awake. Often, I fall asleep very easily after I give up trying or fall asleep before I can even set a goal before I try. It's a shame but it keeps happening. Granted, I often can get regained lucids through this (by remembering that I was just in my bed, trying to fall asleep) but I don't think I've ever been able to fully keep awareness while I drift off. Maybe I do need to try morning naps more often... Great video as always! I don't have much to say besides to keep up the great work! It seems like both channels are doing pretty well numbers wise currently!

    Thanks Stumped. 50% is at the extreme end, as I'm trying to make it clear that there are these two distinct paths to lucidity. In reality, if one is following the advice near the end of the video everything will be just fine.

    How long should morning naps be?

  • @RainisaurusRox

    Great video. One of the most important infos out there. Just one question thou. 😅 When getting up and doing the word affirmation thingy and it tells me that there isn't REM incoming. What do I do? 😮 I'm up right now, slept for about 8 hours with a natural interruption after my first rem. Writing it down woke me up so much that I tried wbtb with imp. But I think it messed with my sleep a bit. It was a longshot anyway, so early into sleep but it was good practice. Now. Will REM come back at some point? (I'll do the test a few more times to check anyway😂, I'm curious.) Clearly I woke up at not exactly the best time. When this happens, should I just call it a day or can I still try a morning nap at some point? I'm working hard on writing down as many dreams I can so that sometimes lead to longer interruptions than once I get the hang of it again. I noticed that I can't remember my first 2 rems anymore so I set the intention to write down my early night dreams, theyre so crazy, I missed them 😅. Oh boy, once I start commenting I can't stop. Can't wait to speak to you in person but I want to be prepared as good as possible. Finnishing your book, mapping out my dreams. But I'm getting there 🎉. Just, my question again, When I'm aming for a morning nap, the word association says no rem, can I still do anything to make it still work? Thanks Daniel ❤

    Thank you so much RainisaurusRox! So the ART (word association) approach is a useful yardstick, but the results will vary between individuals, so make sure you've calibrated your expectations to fit how your brain works with it. So for the time being I'd recommend try regardless of the results, so you can be certain how your mind responds prior to REM. With morning naps, REM is almost guaranteed, it's usually just a question of REM or no sleep at all. I'd recommend staying awake for at least 30 minutes, and then once you've returned to sleep, if there is no sign of sleepiness or REM, then either get up for a little longer and try again in 15 minutes, or just use the time as an opportunity to practice maintaining awareness. It's always worth remembering that any attempt at lucidity is always beneficial, as even if the conditions aren't right, you're still training the mental muscles required for attempts with better conditions. A bit like a surfer going to the gym on days when surf isn't up! Looking forward to meet you too! Stay lucid!

    i have been honestly doing mild and wild every night for over a month so far and still no lucid dream. I have made progress though, i sometime can even recall 2 dream that i do write in my dream journal. I think my problem is that i may have been doing MILD wrong which i will change tonight. I will try the visualisation instead of breath counting. Also, this week since about 2 or 3 days, i have had woken up twice during my sleep. I go to bed at 10 pm, then fall asleep trying to induce a lucid dream then i suddenly wake up at 12:30am. than i write my dream, go to b athroom and go back to bed and try to keep my awarness while falling asleep. Then i fall asleep and wake up again at about 2am. I do the same and go back to sleep then wake up in the morning. I'm i accidently doing something wrong ??

    So what your saying is that I can’t just go to sleep using a maintained awareness technique? Like at the beginning, unfortunately I can’t set any alarms throughout the night because it would wake everyone up and in the morning when I get up I have to wake up my body won’t let me go to sleep, I also can’t take naps either except for on very rare occasions I’ve tried really damn hard :(

    It sounds like you might have picked up an expectational brain-worm. A quick fix would be to pick up a pair of extra strength glasses you never use in real life (maybe from a pound store), always have them with you, then in your dreams put them on with the knowledge they will fix the issue. Sounds a little silly, but expectation plays a very potent role in dream content.

    I have a question which I didn't want to ask at first, because you should do with you videos what you want. I want to clarify that I'm not proclaiming any authorithy on what videos you should be making or how they should be, but I'm very curious and wondering. Are you aware of the fact that you repeat a lot? For example, the information in this video has been shared before in videos and livestreams. You said you would lecture us on different topics in psychology, but the videos are still mainly about lucid dreaming on both channels. Why is that? If I may ask, obviously.

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    @LucidDreamPortal

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Jlow, thanks for asking! I understand that some viewers may feel that the content seems repetitive, but as a teacher, I need to consider the big picture. One reason for this is that some concepts can be subtle and take multiple explanations to fully understand. Additionally, I upload new content every week, so it's important to cover the same topics in different ways to keep things fresh. I also have to consider that there are always new viewers who are new to the subject and may not have watched all of the previous content. I try to mix things up and delve into related subjects to keep things interesting, but I also need to stay within my niche to avoid being punished by KZread. Lastly, it's important to remember that this is a complex subject and it's normal to revisit and understand the basics on a deeper level over time. Thanks for understanding!

  • @jlow1765

    @jlow1765

    @@LucidDreamPortal I understand and respect that. I sometimes forget that this channel is not a school. Your expertise in this subject makes it feel like you are lecturing us as if this is a studies for lucid dreaming. But this is a KZread channel and everybody should learn and understand the basics thoroughly before taking on difficult subjects.

  • @LucidDreamPortal

    @LucidDreamPortal

    Yeah it's tricky as I'd prefer to have it step by step, like the 19 day course. But the platform very much promotes new content. So I reserve the more in-depth approach for tuition and courses. After all, it's much easier to be specific (and delve deeper) when dealing with an individual's specific psychology.
