Hey! This was my very first camera some forty years ago. Took millions of pics with that. I remember the counter actually did work. Now guess what! A week ago I went through my stuff and I found it. I’m definitely going to have some sentimental fun with that. Cheers! :)

The counter spins fast because it makes a full rotation -1 to count up every time you wind it

Should moving to the next exposure require the roll to completely stop, as you've mentioned? I've had mine checked, and they told me that just 1 turn is enough. We had it tested using their sample film. We noticed that turning the right-hand knob until the roll stops skipped a lot of film.

talk-sick Hi! I would always turn the rear advance wheel until it stops (a little over 1 rotation, I think) and it would not skip any frames. These cameras are not really precision-made machines, I wonder if yours is out of alignment?

You're welcome! I haven't had the Smena in a few years so I'm not remembering reasons why the door would stick- maybe try pulling up on the rewind knob, does that help?

Hi! The counter from mine is working (yes, is rolling numbers like it doesn't) but it stops at the right count till 36. Also you can pull up the rewinder like in the comments. Probably tryed this already. Cheers!

When you load the film, and go out to take some shots, how many turns do you make on the black wheel on the right? Since the metal counter in the middle doesnt work, how do you know when there is enough space between two shots?
