    I absolutely love you! Not only are you a great inspiration to ppl that can't necessarily afford our high grocery prices, you have such a great personality. When I tuned in, at my old age of 75, was wanting to learn how to make tortillas. With your beautiful smile and happy personality it drew me into watching more. I love your channel and "you". Keep up that great work and making ppl feel like you're not above them. ❤

    Don't throw chicken bones away simmer them in water with a splash of vinegar this help the bones to release collagen if you want to add herbs onion garlic lemon ect. This is bone broth for free make soup or use it to cook rice adds flavor.

    I appreciate that you're doing a series of weekly $20 food budgets that builds on the leftover items yòu purchased or made in the previous weeks. I think that is more realistic and shows how to use up the items ĺeft at the end of each week, so that later in the month you can incorporate those things in your meal plan so you add a little more variety while sticking to your budget.

    MY FAVORITE POTATO SALAD (Everyone seems to love it; I've been making it like this for 45 years.) 4 to 6 servings 2 pounds potatoes (about 6 medium), peeled and cut into 1/2" cubes 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (I like to use sweet onion) 1/4 cup Zesty Italian salad dressing (I use Light dressing, but not fat-free) 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip (I use both 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish 1 1/2 Tablespoons spicy brown mustard 1 medium stalk celery, chopped small 4 hard-cooked eggs, coarsely chopped Rinse potatoes, and add to medium sized saucepan. Cover with water to about 1/2" over potatoes. Season with salt, using about 1/2 teaspoon per cup of water used. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and cook until fork tender. Drain, then add back to pan And shake for a few seconds over hot burner to dry. Into hot potatoes, stir in onion, Italian salad dressing, salt and pepper. Transfer to serving bowl; cover and Let cool to room temperature. Meanwhile, combine mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, salt and Pepper and mix thoroughly. Set aside until potatoes have cooled. When potatoes have cooled down to room temp, add celery, eggs, and mayonnaise mixture; Toss until potatoes are well coated. Cover and chill at least two hours, and up to overnight. The longer you chill before serving the better the flavor. I like to make it the night before to serve the next day. NOTE: Can substitute 1/2 Cup thinly sliced green onions for the 1/4 cup finely chopped onion.

    More wonderful recipes to put in my book from you, About your cast iron skillet. I have been married now for 53 years, I brought with me 2 different sizes. Mine is well seasoned so it doesn't stick at all. Everything you cook in it tastes so much better! It's completely learning about seasoning your pan. After I use it I clean it in HOT soapy water and a scrubby. NO SOS pads just the back side of the sponge. While it's still wet put it back on the stove and let it get very hot. Turn off heat and take about 1 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil and place in pan. Take a paper towel and careful smooth the oil ALL over the inside of the pan. Do this after each use and it will last a lifetime. By the way HAPPY Mother's Day! See ya next week!

You're my favorite KZread Mexican food channel. I love my cast iron. I have some that are as old or older as I am, that I inherited from my dad and my grandmother. I also have newer ones from LODGE that I bought, as well as vintage ones (Griswold and Wagner brands) that I found on ebay. I love them all; once you get them seasoned well, and learn to properly care for them, they are fabulous.

    Thank u Gaby for another great video on a budget. The lasagna roll ups in my house r whatever veggies I have that I can sauté in olive oil n butter n roll up w a lil cheese n put in the pan to bake w the sauce on the bottom, the top n the biggest,part of the cheese on top the last ten minutes. A good way to use leftover veggies, sauce n cheese. Thank u for the chicken idea. Here a small roast chicken is $8.99 so it’s much more expensive n our Walmart doesn’t offer whole roast chicken anymore 😢😢. I love ur ideas n recipes.😊❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    An easy way to make donuts is to open a can of biscuits and put a hole in the middle and place in hot oil. Sprinkle sugar ( powder sugar

  • @AuLily1

    @AuLily1

    Easier, yes. But will it ever compare to the yeasty, lofty, loveliness of a yeast raised donut? Not even close. Besides, those canned biscuits have copious chemicals and come with the added cost of processed convenience. A five pound bag of flour, and a one pound brick bag of instant yeast (I keep the bulk of it in the freezer, and periodically flush a half cup into my toilet to keep my septic tank happy.) will take you farther in the long run when it comes to options. When you're banging on a budget, options in your future meals is a great investment that a single use can of biscuits can never compete with. My yeast outlasts my flour supply. I bought two pounds during the lockdowns for around $6 when all the packet yeast was being hoarded and few knew what to do with the bulk instant yeast. 😂 It will last for years in the freezer. 2.25 Tsp. = one packet of yeast.

    Another wonderful spice to add to your donut dough is a smidge of nutmeg. This is THE spice in donuts that gives all donuts their distinctive flavor profile. I'm very partial to a yeast raised, rather than the quick bread variety. Well done, and I hope you try the nutmeg on the next occasion you make donuts. To ensure to the egg yolks disperse thoroughly throughout my potato salad, I mush them up in the dressing until smooth. Then add the chopped whites later in the process. As a child, I wasn't a fan of avocados, either. However when I turned 14, I came to love them. The same with mushrooms. Fear not, momma, he may come to like them when he's older.

    One person, but they have helped me see that I can feed myself and my husband for around $40 a week without too much trouble. I don't use all of the recipes exactly, but they give me ideas for similar frugal meals.

    Hi, I do like your recipes but a lot of your portion sizes are too small I think. U know this would not br enough food to make you feel full. Is that really all you eat? I am not being mean just honestly want to know :) Your recipes are very nice though!

    Yes we do. But the portion can change from person to person. I usually have food for next week. Maybe you can add more and be ok.

    Just depends on how much you want to eat. I eat probably less and I'm never hungry.
