I was having trouble keeping my bubble leveled with my bow arm/grip in a natural position. This video solved it all. Particularly the part where you had to put all those disclaimers so you don’t get hated on by the haters... Thank you, Paige!

What i liked about this demonstration is.....No mounting or excessive tools are used. A lot of us do not have the means of a work bench for bow maintenance. I like this a lot

Why did I not watch this 3 years ago. Been fighting my bubble since I started. Saw this video and….Set up the 2nd axis and adjusted my 1st so I can shoot naturally and not have to drastically adjust my body at full draw. Sooo much more comfortable. Thanks Paige

Super duper helpful. A light went off for me; this is why I shoot differently groups on targets placed side by side! I hope Hamskea and Axcel pay you for this - they should really provide this level of comprehensive instructions.

Great video. Although I understand some of the technical comments made by others, I want my sight and level to work for me. I want to come to full draw, open my eyes, and see my bubble in the middle. I don't want to fight my body's natural tendencies on every shot. Sharing the uniqueness of your setup and how to address that situation ourselves was very valuable. Thank you.

Paige , 1) when you shoot in your first axis, do you have your stabilizers on already? 2) When you shoot in your first axis, and you’re getting ready for Redding for example, would you start at 60 yds and then check 20 and 101 to make sure that you are still level? 3) When you get time, could you please make a video about this? It would be extremely helpful for all of us with shoulder andor elbow surgery/injuries. Thank you for all the educational work that you’ve already done.

Great instructional video! The only question I have left are details of the attachment of the Hamskea to the vertical bar (the backside screw contact/placement was blurry at 2:27 into the video). I believe I should be pushing the left and right side of the Hamskea mounting plates against the flat (front and side) portions of the vertical sight bar and then tightening screw so the two Hamskea mounting plates remain snugged up flush and cornered against the vertical sight bar. The screw unfortunately ends up being tightened against an angled surface of the vertical sight bar. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is okay that way as long as the two other plates are snugged up and cornered against the flat surfaces of the vertical bar which makes it squarely mounted. A good close up photo of the mounting screw contact to the Axcel sight would be helpful.

Great info for the beginner. It's so much easier if you have a bow holder mounted perfectly level on a work bench. That way you can rotate the bow simulating up and down angle shots and get the bubble set perfectly. This lady knows here stuff as a WORLD FIELD CHAMPION shooting all over the planet. A beautiful representative for American Archery worldwide.

Question about the purposeful bow cant relative to the perpendicular scope/sight bar. When you shoot in windy conditions do you cant your bow against the wind or adjust your point of aim?

I think I have to try your custom level of first axis trick. I have my bubble constantly on the right (right handed shooter). Of course if you Paige or anyone else has thoughts, feel free to reply with advice.

I understand some of it just wanted to ask if your bow is canted where on your sight do you take it out . Would it be 1st or second axis. Or can I simply set my dovetail or 1st axis where my arm is comfortable and then go to 2cd and 3rd axis. ? Which part of your sight is leaned with ur bow is what I'd like to know. Brook Neva I do... I run it both ways, but with a clarifier it works best with my eyes if the lens is in front of the pin.

Douglas Sarmiento hi... that’s all personal preference. You can move it in and out to change magnification of your scope lens.. or you can move it to for your peep size that you want to use. But that doesn’t have much to do with sight leveling... are you saying do a separate one on that??? That was basically the jist it’s just a personal decision :)

I always enjoy this subject, it is one that i have had to eat crow on a few occasions. Overall I agree with how you do it, i would suggest that you consider changing the order that you do the process. The correct order is 2nd then 1st and then 3rd. Especially if you choose to do the canted bow thing. A few years ago i actually had committed to a canted bow setup, many pro shooters advocate it so i used the method almost exactly the same as you described. Here is the issue, yeah i was convinced and committed to it but i had to dial in my windage at a middle of the road distance. Being a 3d guy i did that around 37 yards. With a max of 50 yds and min of 20 yds it allowed me to hit 12 rings at any distance. But i could tell that i really wasnt dead on at any distance other than 37. So, one day i was in a discussion about setting up a sight and a guy finally presented it in a way that totally shows that a canted bow is not as accurate as a vertical bow at different distances. Here is how he convinced me, yes your method allows the sight to be perfectly vertical to the ground but the piece of the puzzle that is screwing things up is your peep. When your bow string is vertical everything is on the same vertical plane. Your nock point, your arrow rest, your sight pin, your peep. All 4 of these things must be on the same vertical plane but the moment that you lean the bow over in a canted position you have moved the peep off to the side of that vertical plane that the nock and rest and sight pin all are on. Now as you look at the sight pin you are doing it at a angle and will not be dead on from the max down to your minimum.

Shawn Padgett wow okay that was a long good explanation. My short answer... many of us pros do it this way and we shoot redding distances so from 3-101 yards and make this work. If it’s accurate enough for us shooting from that close to that far then in my opinion it’s golden. Also, if you listened to how I say I do it I literally said I do it 2nd, then 1st, then 3rd. Iv shot it a lot of ways over the years- 1st axis leveled to the string, to the riser, and shot in. Iv done it in a vice and with the Hamskea. The purpose of my videos is to teach people how I do it (I have an entire introduction stating that and more). But after shooting all of those different ways over the years and again I have tested it at courses way harder than redding as I grew up shooting that style tournaments every weekend, the best way I have found for me is what is shown in the video. Other people will totally have their own preferences and that’s fine. There are many ways to do this and most will work just fine.

Great explanation never thought of customizing first axis level on a bow. For the doubters same concept with long range rifle. Your scope level needs to be set up for the scope not the rifle rifle can be canted slightly as long as the scope is level lots of videos out there on this scope has to be level to the earth not the rifle because its gravity pulling the projectile bullet or arrow straight to the centre of the earth that we are worried about.

My CBE sight did not come with a third Axis adjustment feature and I have to order a part for my sight to adjust the 3rd axis.Who does this😩?

Update.I actually had to take an old offset part from another CBE sight and do some hand machining to get the scope to work and have a third axis.Trueball Axcel her I come.

So if your 2nd and 3rd axis are correct your 1st axis essentially becomes irrelevant? Ya you blew my mind a bit haha

crwegs28 Hahha basically yes. There are many ways of leveling first axis... you can level to the string, to the riser, or you can shoot it in. What you do there basically is determined by your level of paranoia 😂 a lot of people believe it must be leveled to the string to be correct. But, many people level to the riser and a lot of people shoot it in for them. I always make sure my 2nd and 3rd axis is money. If your 2nd is level correctly, then you can offset the first at no detriment. That will make sure that the scope still tracks straight up and down the sight bar and the sight bar will always be level regardless of bow cant. Hope that helps clear it up even more! It is confusing and I know there will be people that disagree, but the whole point was showing what I do and that is what I do. Tate and his dad do the same. There are a lot of us that do it this way I just feel like people don’t really talk about it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

crwegs28 honestly if you are happy with how it feels with your arm and form then keep doing it that way! Would hurt to try just moving it and seeing if something else feels better though you can always put it right back! The only reason I don’t level to the string is because to me it would feel like my top cam was a mile to the left (it wouldn’t be obviously just how it feels) so I just set mine till my bow “feels” like it’s straight up and down. There is something to be said about shooting comfortable.

Paige Pearce I agree with you 100%. Since we have nothing but time my goal is to be more comfortable behind the bow by the time the shoots open back up. Your tip might just help me w that. If not I can always put it back lol 😉

Warning... that blue level are junk. Working construction you learn real quick which levels are good and whick are junk. Use quality tools for quality results
