Loved making this hat. I used the yarn suggested and skipped a row or two and just had enough yarn to make the size medium hat. However my gauge was just a bit smaller so to keep room for all my hair I only stitched up about 3/4 of the back and left the bottom open for a pony tail and added a “strap (I just crocheted one with the yarn attached on one side) and buttons to fasten under my hair. It turned out great! I also used blanket yarn to make a second hat. I didn’t do the roll up the rim with this yarn, but it kept its shape on its own. Thanks for the fun pattern.
Always so happy and cheerful. Love to watch your videos.
Love love love your tutorials. Your instructions are so nice to Williamson your voice is so pleasing to ear

Very easy and simple hat to knit. Will be making these for my charity hats I'm sure. I would like to know if you made the sweater vest you are wearing. If so, what is the pattern. I love how it looks on you.
Can you do this in a round for me plz. I love this hat pattern. Thank u
Really want to make this hat, I’m a beginner and I’m struggling at the rolled brim part😩. Going to keep trying
Hi Marley do you have leg warmers patterns tutorial
i did this in the round how do i finish the top now?
Hi Marly. If I make this on my circular needles in the round, do I just reverse the first 3 stitches?
Marly where did you get your hat tags at. Thanks!
Love your vest. Do you have a pattern. I have a Sentro that maybe 🤔…
Hi Marly I picked up some evermore yarn at Michael's and it is much thinner #4 I'm really surprised because it looks like it only comes in chuncky
thank you! love this hat! I added it to my ravelry queue :) I would like to know what needles your using? I have metal knitters pride circulars and really like the glide but find them way too pointy. They hurt. Yours look more blunt :)

Kateroar I was using Addi Turbo needles. I love them!
This is very beutfl I'm Um Abdul alla from Iraq
Marly, I have a question for you. I am very new to knitting but want to try this hat. If I use 6mm needles would this change the out come of my hat? I just don’t have 6.5 mm or should I purchase them?
This hat is very nice but if i want to make 2 row like the first one you made, how can i do that?( The row you turn under.)
This looks like a "no hat hair" hat. I'll definitely be adding it to my "to knit list". Can we get more hats that are knitted in the round soon?

Hi Marly, have you ever knitted a hat with down knitting?
I really can't do the knit into the cast on what happens if I dont I am making a baby hat
Marly, I love, love, love this hat. Do you think that this hat can be done on the all-in-one loom w/the 5 extra side pegs. Or will I be better off doing this as a flat panel? Thx.ps. I can’t regular knit for my life. Believe me I tried. I love the videos w/ur mom.

You know, I’m not a loon knitter but I think I would do it flat like I did then seam it. Just so you can follow along with the rows as written and are ensures success :) Good Luck! Can’t wait to see it!

I'm going to do it on the loom in the round because I love this cast on edge. I don't use the AIO loom, so I will probably do it on the 5/8" gauge round. There isn't any reason to make it in a flat panel.

Looming with Lisa, thx Lisa. I tried using AIO, stitches were way too small. I also have the same loom u do. I think the 5/8” is a much better size.
HELP! When I click on the link "free pattern available here", there is no pattern like you normally have. Something is not right. Love the hat. PLEASE RESPOND! Thanks.
What size needles?
Hi I'm just doing Your hat but ive noticed you wearing a sleeveless Cardigan do you have a tutorial for this. I want to knit a sleeveless Cardigan thank you
HELP! Can't seem to be able to print free pattern.
If I wanted to use a lighter weight yarn, such as a #5 bulky vs a #6, how many stitches should I cast on?
@MarlyBird
6 жыл бұрын
You would just need to find out what the gauge for stitches per inch is of your new yarn and then multiply that by the circumference of the hat you want to make :) Use a number divisible by 4 and the crown shaping instructions will work.

Marley I love this pattern, but once I got to the crown portion, my counts were off. I started with 56 cast on, and when it was time for the decrease rows I started with my 56 stitches, but I wasn’t landing on the 42 at the end of the row? What am I doing wrong??

Is anyone else completely messed up with this knit tog with cast on? I can barely move my needle and it is looking lumpy and horrendous. I've watched it almost 10 times! =(

If you’re having trouble, do a practice piece with 15 stitches and instead of just 3 rows, to do it with 5 rows of stockinette stitch before you do the ktogether with the cast on row. That might help give you a little more fabric to work with. Sometimes it helps to practice with a different color cast on...then you will easily see the stitches on the needle vs the stitch you’re working into on the cast on row. Once you so a practice piece and get the hang of it, try it on the hat again with the 3 rows...or if you prefer the look of it with the 5 rows you could do that :) Let me know if you’re still having trouble. I will help as much as I can.

Thank you for that! I did restart the row - very very slowly. Once I finally realized (because I'm blonde) that you were going behind the stitch, it began to work better. It's still quite tight and very hard to complete, but slow and steady is working. I do like the way it is coming out. =)

You could knit in the round, of course :) I chose not to so that I didn’t have to do garter stitch in the round (which means more knit 1 round, purl 1 round), and to make it so a newer knitter didn’t have to use double pointed needles.

Marly Bird thanks for responding. Since I’m a seasoned knitter, I can live doing the garter stitch in the round.

????????? What are the directions that have no sound? This is the cast on i have been searching for so of course the sound goes out at the beginning of the technique. ....sigh. ...😕 i will add this to my watch later and i will check back in a week. If this is an important step im not wasting my time trying to learn a technique until i know the step. After the weeks i have had i dont need more confusion. I will wait to watch the full video until im sure.

You’re sound went out? That is strange. I’ve not had an issue with sound on this video on my end. Please, have another try and let me know if you’re still having problems. Thank you!
As much as I like watching her tutorials, it's a pain to have to look up the pattern on her website in order to know what size needles and gauge of yarn to use. She also never mentions how many stitches to cast on unless you go to the website!! Super annoying...
