You need to add 2 stitches from your pattern, one for right edge, one for left edge. Prep. row: slip purlwise with yarn in front, yo, your pattern, k1. THE ROW: slip purlwise with yarn in front, yo, your pattern, k2tog the yo & slip stitches. Repeat this row. It is very simple yet perfect & neat!

Fine for blankets etc but not items like jumpers where you have to sew the seams together, just slip your first stitch on every row for that. I like this finish and will use it. Thank you.

@@sfcucci You are probably missing the YarnOver. First row: Slip the first stitch purlwise with the yarn in front. Then do a YarnOver. Then knit your pattern to the end. Second Row: Slip the first stitch purlwise w/YIF. Then YO. Then knit til there's only two stitches on your left needle -- the YO and the slipped stitch from the beginning of the first row. Knit the YO & the slipped stitch TOGETHER (k2tog). That's it!! Then just keep repeating the instructions for the second row (Slip 1 w/YIF, YO, K til 2 sts left, K2TOG).
