THANK YOU! I am 74Hundred years old, knitting since age 5-6. Due to "life" I haven't knitted for about 10 years. Today, I couldn't remember how to do cast on! Something we didn't have access to "back in the day" YOU TUBE would provide the answer. Well, I was surprised that I really had to LOOK! You mentioned the 1st time you did this, you put the loop made on the needle incorrectly. WELL, that is the way I was instructed to do in the video I just left, and then found you! I follow you a lot on Fiber Spider and your crochet. You, dear one, are a blessing! So, on a whim (and a prayer) I did Fiber Spider search. VIOLA!!! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for calling attention to the need to go underneath the loop before putting it onto the left needle. That is the crucial step that I always forget about whenever it's been awhile since I've done the knitted cast-on. It's also helpful that you "anchor" the loop with the index finger of your right hand before you go underneath the loop and pull it through.

Thanks thanks thanks! Short, clear instructions, just perfect for getting back into knitting! 🙂 Greetings from Germany!
Mr. Fiber, you are the best teacher. Thankyou!
Thank you. It looked so confusing but with your continued guidance I got the hang of it. I haven't knitted for a long time & I couldn't remember. I looked at a few tutorials before finding you where they show you 2 times while they are knitting. Anyway I will keep practicing it.
Thank you! My grandma showed me this stitch years ago and I couldn't remember how to do it. Much appreciated!
bless your soul and this video!! after weeks of trying and failing your video finally made things click for me 👌🏼😭 i appreciate your service
Wow! Just Wow!!! I can actually do this, in under 5 minutes - 😂 Thank you so much x x
Thank you! I have knitted a few scarves before but I haven't knit in a few years. Decided that it's time to make a hat and I forgot how to cast on. This technique is very handy.
Thank you for sharing! This is the best way I've found to cast on as a new knitter. The other ways were way too confusing. lol
Love this cast on method. I use it all the time now. Thank you for showing me how. ❤
crept into the knitting with intrepidation......found you and knew i could do it. Thankyou x
Thank you for this! I learnt to knit as a child and haven't knit anything in about 30 years.... maybe?.... So, I just couldn't recall that little necessary twist in the cast on! So, it was, '"Ahah! That's what I'm forgetting!" Thank you! :)
My dad taught me knit as a young child however teaching me to cast on in this fashion we went through both loops of the newest stitch. It makes the cast on really neat.
This is my favourite cast on!!! Thank you so much!
Just cast on for the very first time - it worked perfectly. Thank you so very much. ❤
Thanks! The term “rather exuberant tension” is me. What a nice way to say it without being told I’m too tense or rigid. I’ve always felt stupid when people say that. However, I am the proudest rather exuberant with tension knitter in the world!!! Silly things, but makes a huge difference. Your friend in tension!!!
After all the years of knitting and learning from my grandmother...I have always cast on with the -- what I call -- half-cast, in comparison to what you are doing is a full-round cast on. I am knitting a small row for circular needles to make glasses holders and this technique provides a strong beginning for such a small piece. Thank you...
“That does not work” haha, I felt the frustrations in your voice because when you said it, I said it also with the same levels of “been there and it does not work” frustrations in my voice! 😂 I’ve never used this for a cast on to begin a project, only within a project! Great video!
My Nan is 70 years old and she is great full beacuse of your video
This is the best cast on and easy to follow video. Thank you for teaching
Thank you so much! Love this method, and you explain it so well.
❤❤ woooooohoooo I managed to do this and it's sooooo easy.. Ok I have a new way to cast on now..Yay no more guessing for the long tail cast on❤❤❤ Ty Craig for being such a great teacher
Thanks so much for this video!! Casting on is now therapeutic and no longer frustrating
I was taught to knit by a neighbourhood lady when I was about 6 or 7 years old, and this is the cast-on method she taught all of us little girls. I came online to find a video teaching the longtail cast-on. It's actually new to me (after 70 years!). lol
Thank you so much for your help with casting on it's so much easier than ever. Thank you 💗💗
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you.
This is a fantastic cast-on method!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
this was SO helpful! i spent so much time doing the crochet cast on with no crochet hook and i was about to give up!!
I love both your knitting and crochet tutorials
I learned this cast-on technique many years ago (1970’s) in Girl Guides. Thank you for the reminder!!
Thank you. New to knitting and have found a new favorit way to cast on. GREAT

Oh thank you for this! I’ve done the knitted cast on before but never did the twist and my stitches were sloppy and loose - now I know why! Going to go cast on a sweater 😉

Greetings from Bangalore, india. I was looking for an easier method to cast on stitches, particularly for sweaters which involve lot of them. As an " advanced beginner" as I am labelled, I can knit fairly well but found casting on always frustrating especially while knitting the first row after that. You have taught an easy and neater technique. Thank you Mr. FS.
I love your videos! They're so helpful!
Thank you so much for this excellent demonstration.
Fantastic! I needed a new way to cast on, after doing things the same way for 20 years,
Si love your work. I don't know how to knit but watching your this video I understand it you teach well with patience I would like to learn more knitting thank you

Thank you so much for this tutorial! It is a great way to cast on. And easy, too!
New to following you - your videos are great! So easy and concise - THANK YOU! Still fairly new to knitting and starting to attempt more difficult patterns, but it seems like my first row is always messy. Any tips? Also any tips on counting to stay with a pattern? I still can't figure that out! You're a great teacher - going to go through all your videos!
Thank you so much for teaching this method !
Thank you so much!!!…Been having a hard time with my Cast on (Tension)…Help me out sooo much!!!😊👍👍😊😊😊😁😁
