All you have to do is spread your legs out wider than normal so you can get your pelvis lower and also get your center of balance better. This makes it super easy to do a kip up!

Interesting fact: Even past his 50's, Jackie Chan can do no hand kip up without "landing deep" (knee doesn't need to go beyond his waist). He can also do no hand kip up without bending his knee (straight legs) on the wind up, stopping the wind up at 90 degree angle perpendicular to the ground before kipping up. Very optimized for combat with speed and efficiency, and done while holding weapons either above or below his legs.

actually without the momentum swing the kip up makes more sense, which I recommend learning; looks cooler and is more useful

If you try doing it on grass, it’s a lot easier. I can do it on grass but not hard floors for some reason

Mr Tigle Idk how you're doing now, but if you're still having trouble, then try bringing your lower back off the floor when you roll backwards to create the momentum. Can't wuss out midway or you'll mess up. Make it as if your trying to kick yourself in the face with your knees, but don't actually kick yourself.
