    Superb 'how to' video. So much so, I'm going to Ju-88 A-4 very soon. Make massive boom boom good. I like the Schnellbomber aspect to this plane. The Pe-2 has this quality and can impossible to catch due to considerations of enemy territory, fuel etc. I love to dive bomb, and who doesn't? Letting go of all that fire power with all that inertia is going to be good, I just know it. Thanks again for your fine work Sheriff.

    Best tutorial I have seen on this plane. After six months or so flying all the soviets, I am learning this plane. I've been struggling with take-off, particularly on short runways, so your tutorial is a great help. Shame about the tail-wheel lock, although apparently the 88 did have one and even the item is modelled in the game, just not functional. Thanks once again.

    Damn, the Ju88 cockpit looks so inconvenient compared to the He111's one. I found this tut comprehensive and useful like all the others on your channel. I wish I'd known earlier about the subtleties of flight modes. Frying many He111 engines en-route to target taught me a lesson. Btw, how do you manage to get this external view at deck? Couldn't find the default shortcut key.

    Very useful. One gets used to not just throwing down the throttles (aka "WarThunder Takeoff") because lighter planes (fighters and most attackers) will tie themselves in knots with torque. But this is a weighty bird, particularly loaded with death & destruction, and the engines wind up more slowly. And the end of the runway comes up fairly quickly on many fields. I have also used the Oh-my-God-it's-the-end-of-the-runway-drop-flaps routine on a fully loaded Sturmovik. Particularly if there are trees, a hill, etc. Works well, control the ballooning.

    Does the Ju88 wrench it's engines if you throttle up too fast? IRL if you banged it from 0% to 100% straight away you'd wreck the shafts.

    I really struggle to understand the nose-heavy/tail-heavy trim. Say tail-heavy, does it mean you trim that way to counteract a heavy tail (nose down), or that trimming that way will make the tail heavy (nose up)? As a irl pilot I have never heard anyone use these terms where I am from, so it's a foreign term to me. I assume tail-heavy means trim up since you use it during climb? It's still overall a confusing term to me

  • @SheriffsSimShack

    @SheriffsSimShack

    7 ай бұрын

    Interersting because if i just google "tail heavy trim" or "tail heavy flight characteristics" I find enough results. If I trim a plane tail heavy, the nose has the tendency to go up. Usually not a behavior you want in normal cruise but maybe in combat, in steep dives or during landing.

    When I fly the Ju-88 with my friend, we have an issue with landing... The plane makes a hard yaw to the right which then throws the plane into a spiral 50 meters above the runway. Is this a normal issue? What are we doing wrong...?

  • @DJScaleModels

    @DJScaleModels

    Don't use flaps for very long, and don't throttle down too fast. That's what I can suggest from reading the issue

    I like to pull out the dive brakes for level flight (or a gentle climb) when a fighter is on my tail. It might seem counter - intuitive but actually it reduces their attack windows significantly due to you almost stalling.. obviously this can be achieved without the brakes but nowhere near as quickly.. the amount of times i have had my gunner finish off a fighter from dive brakes is actually quite high. It forces them right into your gunners face lol, so they can either go all in and try kill you or do a bunch of approaches way too fast. I am usually never panicking with just 1 fighter honestly the JU 88 can take a beating and get home. Unless they can sit far behind and gun you down long range they will usually just die.

    @@SheriffsSimShack haha yeah not denying that but arguably any experienced fighter will eat a bomber for breakfast either way, this way works in my favour tons of times! (the gunner seems to do serious work if you bring them close enough). I have tried and tested this many times now and it works a lot more than you might think. I guess there's not so many "experienced" pilots around in IL2

  • @blankblank6545

    @blankblank6545

    6 жыл бұрын

    I have no full guide for any of them, but I can give you a few tips to Macchi; If you stay around 6K you're noticeably faster than a Yak 1, your climb is also slightly better, but not good enough to notice anything. Since the bullets are quite weak in the Macchi, I like to go for a bit longer range shots, which often works out since there isn't a lot of leading needed. If you manage pitch automatically you can get quite far away from most planes (at least from my experisnce at 6K), after awhile I usually turn around and face the enemy, even though head-ons are often poor decisions, a few long range hits can go a far way with the Macchi, and if the enemy starts leaking black, I either think about if they're able to get back to their airfields, or I try to finish them of, a fight can really turn in your favour if you get a few hits on the engine, which leads to the enemy being slower and an easy target. But what do you do if an enemy suprises you at 6K? I like to dive straight down, since the Macchi can manage the same speeds in a dive as the 109, it usually stay together quite well, and if the russian is foolish enough to follow you; if you're in the dive long enough the russian plane will lose tail control and crash into the ground. Other than that I use similar tactics as the 109s; diving from high up and using the energy from the dive to climb again. Anyways, that's just how I like to fly the Macchi, I'm sure there are better and safer tactics, but these tactics have worked good enough for me.
