To anyone doing this mod with an analog tach needle. The needle does come out, making it much easier to remove/reapply OEM filter screen. Just have to pry needle off with the tips of your fingers. Before removing those 2 little screws holding the gauge backplate, grab needle with the tips of your index finger and thumb touching the gauge backplate. While lifting up on the needle, apply slight pressure with your fingertips on the backplate. As the needle moves up, reposition your fingers down to allow your fingertips to touch the backplate and keep prying off the needle in the same manner. It will pop off. Side note: make sure you know EXACTLY which way your needle is pointing when you remove it. You have to place it back on facing the exact same direction you removed it or else the tach gauge will read incorrectly. So try to keep it as straight as possible while removing it. To reinstall, simply push down on the needle, and leave clearance between needle and backplate. Hope this helps! 👍🏼

Very good ! Looks way nicer after your mod !!! You should have also tried flipping the filter over, the front and back often have different effects . . . for example the front side might only go from clear to blue . . . whereas the back goes from clear to deep black.

ba ecchi looks not bad. I have the brightness in the middle so in direct sunlight it’s not as bright but you do see the numbers, the blue numbers turns white in day light. I have a vlog coming soon showing this

do u not do anything to the rear of the lcd screen .i suppose if it works on front film then it doesnt matter.also do u have to power up to get numbers to show up.

well you do have to turn the key to get power to have the screen light up like normal. with the screen off it shows nothing

From experience with both normal and inverted LCD displays I've found that neither style is optimum for all ambient lighting conditions. The inverted LCD panel on a 2018 Z1000SX can be difficult to read during the day unless the sun is behind me. At night, I think the display looks perfect, without any bright glare. My older Aprilias used normal (non-inverted) LCD displays with a green or red panel filter. They were perfectly readable during the day and very pleasant at night with the colored backlight reducing glare. If I could design an instrument panel it would include analog tach and/or speedo, and any LCD panel would become the TFT type.
