How To Insulate Your Van With Spray Foam!

#vanlife #rampromaster #vanconversion
My friend Kate has been in the process of converting her van and she finally got to the point where it was time to insulate. Since her van has all sorts of framing inside, we decided to give spray foam insulation a try!
It ended up being a very quick process, but it wasn't cheap.
One thing I forgot to mention was the temperature it should be when and if you decide to use spray foam to insulate your van. The kit we used requires it to be 70 degrees fahrenheit or warmer when using. Make sure you check the directions before you start the process!
Here are a few of the products we used to insulate Kate's van.
Spray Foam Insulation Kit: amzn.to/30EMEj0
Great Stuff Foam Sealant: amzn.to/36vJUbo
Tyvek Suit: amzn.to/3iHOqWR
Respirator with Goggles: amzn.to/34rodGJ
Gloves: amzn.to/3neTkOi

That spray foam is great for stopping temperature change through conduction, which will stop condensation. Because the metal and fiberglass will not sweat due to temperature difference between the outside and inside, when she's ready to add more insulation - because that thin layer won't be enough - she can add any other soft fiber she wants between the van skin and interior walls without worry about mildew and mold (wool, denim, thinsulate, fiberglass, rockwool, etc). Great start to an unusual vehicle :) Looking forward to seeing more of this build.

Ya'll did great. Remember this will expand during curing. Best to start with the flat tip to take up as much surface. The thin tip is for and missed spots , give an area a bit more foam, or for hard to reach areas.

Did you ever think about rust issues? When humidity will get stuck between the bodywork and your insulation (and it will), your van could be pretty much gone... Pay attention to all drain holes and not clog them, as well as which type heating system you'll be using. All in all, you don't want too much condensation happening. Insulating vehicles is no easy thing, that is why it is so expensive. DIY methods are on the cheap side, but watch out for what can happen in the long run.

People have no idea about spray foam in a vehicle..even nowadays I still see people doing it. While people who did this 3 years ago recently found out that the panels started to bubble on the outside of the van😅 Seen some of these cars for sale recently too..imagine if one would buy a car like that not having a clue

@@farinab.1336 Don't know where you got your info from?... i'm from the UK and I spray foamed my van!.. I got mine done by reputable company!... spray foaming your van gives you a much higher R value than any other type of insulation!... it also acts as a sound deadening/ vapour barrier and top insulation all in one!... down side is the cost!..( mine cost me over a £1000 ) in USD that's about $1,388.00!.... also you need to make sure that you have run all your line's in ( that's your LPG/WATER & ELECTRIC'S ). and that the are in conduit or some form of trunking.... as you will not be able to get at them or run other lines.as this stuff is there for good!...will not budge... so good careful planning with all your line's is the #1 factor...also spray foam does not attract moisture!... also the only way that any ones mineral wool would slump down is the fact that... THEY DID NOT DO THE JOB PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE!.... if you dont pack it in to all the nooks and crannies it will drop due the lack of volume if insulation material!
