As usual you are th best instructor on the youtube currently. Believe me, I watch all of them. I have the same slinger you do and to practice fast short vollys, I put the slinger on a two to three foot chair, just across the net, start it on slow feed and half speed and make sure it shoots the ball about six inches or so over the net. I get back behind the kitchen line and do about 50, then speed it up with feed and speed. I like the tips on the paddle position and will use that in addition to training the mind to anticipate the next ball. Thanks.

Wow! Best instructor on KZread. That is so amazing. Thank you so much. Yes, repetition is key.
There was only one tip here that I hadn't seen before, which was finishing your swing with the tip of the paddle pointing in the direction you just sent the ball. There was also one tip here which I desperately needed to hear for the first time, which wasn't addressed. Six months ago I experimented with an extremely forward paddle position in the kitchen, and it mostly worked. But there were a handful of former racquetball players who could cork the ball with spin to either side with little advanced warning in their swing mechanics. From a paddle position extremely far forward, I had a lot of trouble cutting off these passing balls that went to my far right or far left with little advanced notice. The forward paddle position _also_ greatly diminishes your time and space to lunge to the left or the right to cut off zippy passing balls crossing in front of you on a slight diagonal. Your natural reach to the left and right way out in front is limited. To get further out to the left or right, you actually have to _backtrack_ on your reach. This is exactly the same time problem (in reverse) as having to swing in the forward direction from a paddle that begins too close to your body to hit a ball in front of your body. I guess the unspoken part of this video is don't play against former racquetball players. Then this entire video is pretty much perfect advice.

I enjoyed your video and learned some good tips. Just a thought, some of the other instructional videos will have an opponent hitting the ball back. This would show actual play with fast hands in this case.

Hey Tyler, great video thanks! Can you recommend a drill to do with my Slingerbag to improve my judgment of which of my opponents balls are going out when I’m at the NVZ.

Yes, however, it is all about the elements of surprise. If you have the slinger bag shooting balls long at you every single time you know they are going out.
Thanks

Great tips, but it would be nice to see your remarks with a practice partner so we can see and absorb your instructions. Thank you

Great idea!
Sometimes I feel that I am overly proactive. I get my paddle ready for where I believe its going and I throw off my timing. lol

always be proactive rather than reactive. Stay one step ahead.
Great video! Would suggest if you use 1 (slow ball), pair it up with 1 (loose grip). So there’s no need for mental math just pair it up with numbers :) Besides many other videos use 1 for loose grip and 10 for tight grip. But great tips I’m gonna try implementing them!

I agree. This method is more intuitive. It can't really be called the Rule of 10 anymore, though. Suggestion?

Good information BUT you should have a partner to show what you’re talking about. Visual examples are much better than just words.

The harder you grip a paddle the less control you have.
@universalrackets

Exactly! In pickle ball to gain control you must give up control!
@adamheath4599

I disagree, I have better control and feel when I have a firm grip on my paddle. That doesn’t mean a death grip, but a loosely goosey grip doesn’t give me better control. The only reason I’d have a loose grip is to absorb the impact for resets.
Love the tips, but noticed one thing, you state that 80% of the shots should be backhand, but when you demonstrate many of the shots, you use your forehand. Other than that, great tips

True most of the shots are using the backhand but in that video he s feeding the balls to himself
Very good instructions but no demo. I suggest you to do at least half and half video. Half explanation and half demo.

I totally disagree because some techniques & tips take more time to demonstrate. All the videos from different coaches are all the same. Some are short & some others are longer
