    Do they still come with drill bits and levels? I dont see one in the box we got for Christmas. Would be good if they showed how to test the voltage, amps etc with a multimeter.

    Why does my doorbell slowly drain battery when hardwired? It’s currently spring time and almost summer. I mostly have this issue during winter time.

    Those wires that you connect to the screws and then tighten to make sure it’s secure and anchored to the unit... when you press the button does that sound the doorbell in your home or...?

    Hi there. Each Ring device includes all the parts and tools needed for proper installation in the box. Your Ring should have included a masonry drill-bit to allow you to drill directly into a brick wall to install your Ring. However, if this masonry drill-bit is missing from your device's packaging, please give our community support a call at 1-800-656-1918, (or if outside the US: ring.com/callus) 24/7, for more support. We look forward to hearing from you.

    I installed a Ringdoorbell 2 about 2 years ago ... it is hardwired to my previous doorbell wires. It worked great for the first few months but then it just stops working. About every 3 months or so I have to check settings under device health, it says hardwired, it says status is at 100%, but nothing. I have not changed my password ... my modem and router are working fine ... but nothing since Thanksgiving day. I tried the hard reset ... the with light comes on then the blue lights flash ... still does not work. I have taken the battery out and connected to the orange wire provided ... it says it is charging ... so what is the point of having the thing hardwired if I have to continuously take the battery out and charge it. Kind of defeats the purpose of the hardwire. What is going wrong with this thing ... is it just a faulty system or am I doing something wrong.

    Great question, Rob. We recommend fully charging your Ring before placing it outside to ensure the wiring can help keep the battery in the device charged. Wiring your Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation will charge the battery at a trickle of approximately 10% charge per day, so fully charging the device before installing will ensure you're set up for success in the future.

    I'm seeing some comments asking do u have to periodically USB charge after its hard wired!? I'd imagine that's jus the initial start up process. And once you (where the doorbell button was) wire into the existing door chime with transformer... it will also make the door chime sound when u push the ring button! The 2 wires(usually red & white) will keep the ring powered up! 8-24 volts AC Also ask yourself do you think they would design this product where you'd have to take off the wall again so you can recharge with USB!! Should be one & done.... Move to the APP process & try to enjoy.

    Hey Orlando, great question! Before utilizing your Ring Doorbell, we suggest allowing the battery to charge for 6-8 hours. However, if your Doorbell's battery is draining due to the transformer not providing enough power, we definitely recommend that you dismount the Doorbell to charge it. If you have any questions, please let us know. We're happy to help.

    That's a good question . I'm gonna get an old fashion chime kit that has 2 wires that go to the old door bell type. I'm guessing that's the old strange set up that breaks the circuit when the button was pushed!? There were/are diagrams of the old door bell set up. Obviously RING incorporated how to apply to the wired system!? I remember some Ac thermostat would power up without a common wire .... kinda like a backfeed. And yes I've done HVAC work for a living . That's how I know some of these things! Wired in a few garage remotes/motors Genie /chamberlain

  • @ring

    Hi there, great questions! Depending on the amount of activity that your Doorbell captures, you may need to unmount the device to recharge the battery so your Ring stays powered on to capture activity near your home. Also, the Doorbell needs to be hardwired to a 8-24 VAC transformer in order to receive a proper charge. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. We're happy to help.

    What kind of wire is needed?

  • @ring

    @ring

    3 жыл бұрын

    Great question, 18-gauge wire is the ideal gauge to use with Ring Video Doorbells. It provides the proper amount of resistance and is very easy to work with and makes wiring simple. To determine whether or not the wire you're using is 18-gauge, get a standard metal thumbtack and compare the pin to the wire. 18-gauge wire is approximately the width of the pin.

    I like how at 0:08 they completely glossed over what appears to be the key to all of this. Most people are not going to know where to find this information or what it means, and for some strange reason, they don’t tell you!!! Are there instruments that can tell you this information? Is it written anywhere? What happens to the Ring if you install it and it’s not compatible? My model came with that wire that you loop inside the chime that’s already in your house. Why does that not apply here. It would be nice to know all of these things. Thanks for nothing Ring.
