Thanks for the support! This is an older video too. I have wrapped the car 1.5 more times since. There are some videos out there. You should send me an email or instagram message letting me know who you’re referring to. I still make lots of mistakes as a presenter and editor too.

Is Vvivids ultra gloss vinyl a lot more improved than their previous gloss vinyls from vvivid? I’ve wrapped with the older vvivid vinyl and always had a harder time stretching and removing the bubbles was a struggle even on small ones that shouldn’t be unlike 3m 1080 & 2080? Was hard to tel in the video but it definitely looks well improved I liked the vid very informational thank you

I find it is much better than the regular gloss product from the past. WAY easier to work with than 3M and doesn’t tear. I started with some samples before deciding on a full roll. Great product for the price in my opinion. Thank you for watching!

Nice. I just got my Vvivid+ premium test piece but I do not see a cap on it and cannot get a cap (if there is one) to release. Kinda disappointed with it. It also had a paper back and I thought the Premium+ was supposed to be a plastic release back?

There's high gloss and ultra gloss. I got the ultra gloss and it came with the cap and plastic release.

would leaving it in the sun on a hot day be enough heat to allow the self-healing process to work?

Depending on where you live, I wouldn’t be surprised. I won’t know in my area until July.

I know this video is old but I purchased the ultra gloss gunmetal grey, I installed it with the cap on but can't seem to get the cap off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am surprised you can’t get the cap off. Try on a scrap piece first, but the cap is held on by static and should peel fairly easily from an edge or corner. Try using a knife to separate the layers on a scrap piece.

How much wrap did you get to wrap all the bmw? Mr don very good content👍

If it’s your first time. Go with 75ft but it can probably be done in 65 not counting the roof

How easy was this to work with ,, I have bought Vvivid from Amazon and the material would not cover a mold properly ,, Avery and 3M did or is this Gloss Vvid much easier to work with ?

This video was the initial launch of the film so I would say it was medium skill level. I find Avery SW900 the easiest but thin. 3M 1080 not very tough but yes, bit easier to apply. 3M 2080 is better than 1080.

Can you explain whether heat expands or contracts the vinyl? I'm having hard time to understand the physics.

A few things depending on the film. Most commonly it softens the film allow it to be more pliable and stretchable. Heat will also help the film shrink back to its original shape. Not smaller

did you install the film with plastic liner on? I tried once without it but it was getting super scratched from my squeegee. I am assuming it was because I got a cheap squeegee. I am sure I could also heat out the scratched but I didnt want to scratch it if I didnt have to. it was also my first time. Thanks!

I do as much of the flat areas with the cap on but I do recommend a new felt on your squeegee after a few panels. Just takes a few dust particles to make some scratches

@Donslife yeah, the felt seemed cheap and like it was pretty beat up on the bottom edge and seemed like it was missing felt. The other one that came with the kit didnt seem much better that I still didnt use

How the wrap holding up brother? I wrapped my mustang in vvivids ultra gloss smurf blue and after almost 2 months the hood and trunk started to get stains. Already tried washing it with chemical guys vinyl wrap soap and no luck, anything you recommended?

That’s a bummer. Mine had been good but I put the vinyl wrap ceramic coating on it. I rewrapped my door handles though. I park the car inside and keep it super clean. Is it staining or discolored?

It’s definitely stained, which I’m surprised because I’ve used vvivid a couple of times with no problem in the past. I was hoping there was a way of getting rid of the stains before I decide to rip off the vinyl and go with a different color but at this point I’ve lost all hope. I shall start ceramic coating all my wraps from now on to avoid this issue just in case

It might be worth contacting VViViD’s support. They may warranty it. I have heard of bad batches of vinyl existing. So maybe this is the case? Worst they could say is no.

I got a 1 x 5 piece of Ultra-gloss silver metallic just to try and it matches my 2004 Santa Fe almost perfectly but I can't seem to find or get off any "protective cap". I am hesitant to start my hood and mirrors with so little stretch available. Am I missing somenting?

Did you buy a VViViD Ultra Gloss? If not, maybe it doesn’t come with a cap. The caps are usually there just to avoid scratching the vinyl during application. A little heat and every vinyl I have worked with will allow you to stretch it. Most of the time I tend to remove the protective cap layer (if it has it) after laying down the large flat areas.

@@Donslife Yes, it was definitely VVIVID Ultra Gloss and the description does said this: Stretchable Protective Cap: Unlike other vinyls, VViViD’s Ultra Gloss comes with a protective film that stretches with the vinyl, so you don’t have to remove that protective layer until the installation is complete, reducing the risk of scratches and scuffs. I tried heating a piece and it did stretch just fine. More worried about leaving the cap on (if it has it) the completed job.

I have never left the cap on except in the beginning stages while laying the vinyl down. It will fail quickly if you leave it on

@@mattb6633 I did finally discover that it did have the protective cap - but very hard to remove, I believe I picked at a corner with a razor blade to find. Everyone thinks I had my hood painted. I did have a couple minor flaws due to improper prep work but not noticeable unless you study it.

IT is the same color of sonic grey on Honda?

2:47 Why do these Nardo Grey films have a blue hue to them? It almost looks blue.

I agree. I think blue is one of the main pigments to male the Nardo film. The camera seems to show it even more blue than in person.

no matter how glossy the vinyl is, the true car guy would still be able to tell if its wrap or paintwork, the reflection for wrap is somewhat inconsistent compared to real paintwork

I agree. There is now vinyl on the market that uses paint resin in the film with a laminate layer. Starting to get closer to the depth you see with good paint and clearcoat

Nah there is OEM paint new that has more orange peel than wrap. Have you seen Teckwraps HD films? Pure wetness moreso than some paint jobs.

How long did this last ?

At least a couple years. I do color changes too often to test, but with proper care and shade storage, it can last 3-4 years.

As someone connected to the wrap industry, I would have recommended a different brand of vinyl. That said, the car looks really good!!

@@shanescarlife ck wraps did a comparison review of all of those against the vvivid gloss and the ones you stated looked like garbage in comparison. Vvivids gloss products are way better than they used to be.

@@shanescarlife vvivid looks way better and holds longer than most of the competition now. It’s crazy how Much they came up in the these years. 3m and avery quality is great but look like shit with horrible orange peel and clarity in the gloss colors.

Looks great but that color is so played out! Great attention to detail tho!

Thanks.....As for the color, definitely the only Nardo Grey with Bronze wheels in igloo country (Canada). I kept losing it in the snow when it was white

I don't really under stand the masking tape I wrap just fine and my work comes out great, I feel like it's a big waist of time and materials, and is completely unnecessary.

Depending on the tack of the film, the panel gaps and application temperature, masking can really help with tucking the film for final trimming. Also it acts as protection from accidental cutting of the clearcoat and dust mitigation. Some of us live in very dusty and dry parts of the world.
