    @Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply I have a putting green in my backyard that was installed before we bought the house. There are some small areas that have become uneven and even have created pretty decent divots underneath the turf. What would be the best action to take to level these sections back out?

  • @ewingoutdoorsupply

    @ewingoutdoorsupply

    Жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately, it will require pulling up the turf to make the repair to the base. It will likely have a base of decomposed granite. Be sure to use a hand tamper or vibratory plate compactor to compact the material before reinstalling the turf. Also be careful that you do not have any large rocks that might negatively effect the roll. Thanks for watching!

  • @Tuckerprod
    @Tuckerprod8 жыл бұрын

    nice but i wouldn't recommend using nails to hold it down as this turf is usually used for children to play on . I would recommend U pins as they have no sharpness and also they are deeper and harder to pull out than nails . Don't know why most videos are saying use nails . I have actually had to go back to a job to replace with u pins because the nails come out to easy

    Is there a minimum temperature at which this turf needs to be laid to expand out before installing?

  • @ewingoutdoorsupply

    @ewingoutdoorsupply

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Samuel Levine - The manufacturer doesn't list a specific temperature for installation. The idea is to have the turf as pliable as possible to achieve the best results. This is from the installation guide: "Your synthetic grass has been tightly wrapped and sealed. This eliminates damage that can occur during shipping. Because of the compression from wrapping, we recommend you allow the turf to “relax” prior to installation. To do this, you need to fully unroll and allow turf to rest at least 6 hours. As warm an area as possible or in the sun helps! Remember that your turf is extremely flexible and you want it as relaxed as possible for ease with installation." Thanks for watching!

    I have a 50x50 clearing in central florida lot and it's basically compacted sandy soil that was there. Seems to drain well. pretty flat and stable though naturally dusty. Any reason I can't just lay artificial turf over that?

  • @ewingoutdoorsupply

    @ewingoutdoorsupply

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sand will not provide the base needed for long-term stability. Heaving and ruts can occur over time in high traffic areas. In most cases, the optimum base material will consist of a 70-30% mix of aggregate (3/8"-3/4") and fines (up to 1/4"). Thanks for watching!

    Hello Jose. It's important not to install in cold temperatures. The turf should be rolled out completely flat in the sun for several hours prior to installation. Not following this advice can lead to wrinkles in your green as a result of expansion after the turf has been secured to the base material. Thanks for the question!

    We are installing turf under a playground. I was wondering if it is necessary to apply a foam shock absorber layer or is the good enough without. Is it Recommend that playground be built over turf layer or should Turf be placed Around playground. Turf will laid on compacted rca. Primer

    It's always better to install the turf over a shock pad or foam type pad for safety (fall factor). As far as installing before or after, that depends on what equipment you are installing. Typically, there is going to be some digging, so that needs to be done first, then install turf after the equipment is put in. The link below is to a document with additional information. Contact your local Ewing branch for additional details. Thanks for the question! epsturf.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/2018_PlaygroundSystem.pdf Locations: store.ewingirrigation.com/locations

    Typically the putting surface is laid out first. Here's an installation guide with more details: www.challengerturf.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Putting-Green-Installation-Manual-101.pdf Thanks for watching!

    The turf was pretty compressed from being rolled up and didn't have enough time in the sun to expand. Going back over it with a power broom after a couple of days helped hide the seam.

    even with good drainage is there any future smell/odor to worry about?

  • @ewingoutdoorsupply

    @ewingoutdoorsupply

    +Texas LawnMonster - Thanks for the question! Odor is usually not much of a concern with proper drainage unless you have pets. Using the ZeoFill Pet Infill will help combat odors resulting from pet urine. If for any reason you do have odors in your turf, scrub the affected area using a few drops of dish soap per gallon of water then rinse with water. Do not use other cleansers such as bleach or any item with alcohol as they can damage the turf. Make sure you rinse thoroughly to avoid dulling the blades.

    We have greyhound dogs and they love to play and run. Is this a good product product for my situation? Also can it be used on a slight down slop of the yard? thx

    Thanks for the question Geff! Yes, there's an EPS turf product designed for dogs and using it on a slope is acceptable when installed properly. Be aware that the product can get hot in the summer so you may need to cool it down with water before letting the pups out to play. Here are links to the product page as well as updated installation instructions: epsturf.com/product/soft-paws-pet-turf/ www.epsturf.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/2018_PetSystem.pdf

    While similar to installing residential synthetic turf, the process is a little more complicated in a sports field application. This link should provide some of the information you are looking for: www.sportsbuilders.org/fields/buyersguide.cfm. Thanks for watching!
