The wood prior to the tiles was much more beautiful than the dull black tiles
The deck in this video is much too beautiful to be covered up.

Looks great! Easy, modern update that can be changed.
Does anybody have any ideas for trim around the outer edges of the deck? My mom's deck moves so we want to put some kind of trim around the very outside edges to cover up any open spots if her deck moves.
How is the cut piece secured onto the deck, please?
putting it down criss cross when you fit the small pieces in round the edge do you need 1 tile per space or can you use left over pieces ?
Excellent....Your tips where perfect
How do you secure the piece around the post that is loose fill in? You can't just leave it there loose? If you do a video you need to explain...

is this good for hot weather areas like Florida
what if the base of the post is not square and has curves?
Exactly what keeps a strong north wind from picking these tiles up and blowing them down the road since they are not fastened?
I bought some of this from Costco the other day and I need fascia and trim pieces where can I find them ???
if you're supposed to leave an inch gap around posts and walls, why didn't you leave any extra space for expansion?
thanks for the great video, just completed my deck !!! (however if my old deck had looked as good as yours I would not have taken in this project!)

These tiles hold the heat a lots and they lose color after a while. I thought it is a excellent idea but after I did my homework I won't go with it. Looks super nice though.
I'm doing these in my yard with 5 packs--so 7 squares by 7 squares. My question is--what do you do about the edging? I want it to look clean but can't figure out how to make it so the last tiles in each row doesn't have tabs on the edge.
@MultyHome

In order to achieve a flat clean look to the deck, you might want to try removing the tabs permanently (remove them with a utility knife) -- always wear safety glasses and utility gloves when manipulating the deck tiles in this way.
What kind / size of jigsaw blade did you use ?

We bought some at Costco for our 15 year old deck, as lumber prices have skyrocketed. They stink a bit because of the recycled tires. Once in place will the smell go away or will it continue to linger?

We laid our tiles out on our patio and noticed that there were sections of them that were much darker than most of the other sections. Now we have to remove some of the tiles (that are darker - noticeably and can't be left as is) from the center of the patio. Do we have to remove from the edges in or can we just remove the ones that are darker. AND how do you suggest we do that without damaging the tabs on the tiles?

@@BeersBikesandTheFlag it’s not too bad where we used it because our patio is covered. But I agree in the blazing sun it would not be fun.

I’m going with this because it’s easier than resealing the deck. I’m hoping easier care.

What is the exact material? I want to dye them actual black because they are a faded grey looking color, but the dye only works on certain plastics

Hello Katie, the deck tiles are made of recycled rubber - from crumb of used car tires diverted from landfill.
Hey Anastasia, Bill from Centura hope all is well !
is the deck hotter than wood in the summer heat
Can these tiles be placed right on top of the ground?
@MultyHome

Yes! A firm packed base will prevent the decktiles from shifting or buckling. Hard packed aggregate such as fine mesh pea gravel is ideal. Soft matter such as sand or sod will cause shifting.

Costco will be back in stock in January/February time frame. It usually sells out by April.
The cut piece around the post should be put on the inside to avoid it getting knocked off.
Hello! Bought 1 pack to test. It smells like a car tire. Main question - I read that the old tires are harmfull for the nature and can lead to allergy, cancer and other problems with health. What if I want to walk barefoot on the tiles on my balcony or terrace? What about harmfull evaporation under the direct sun? Many questions and didn't found answers on your website.

why would you cover a beautiful wood deck with cheap black plastic?
What, no edge pieces at all? It would look kind a ugly with plastic parts staring on the ends.
WHY would you cover up that beautiful wooden decking???
I don't get it. The woman has a beautiful wood deck that looks to be in excellent condition, and chooses to cover it with plastic looking wood. I would keep the old deck and stain it ever couple of years that may take about an hour.

But it is affordable. When considering other cover up options that look as clean or nice, or instead of replacing a deck, this is very affordable.
Cheap fix that looks equally as cheap.
So you're being kind to the environment by using shredded tires that have to be cooked to form them into these deck tiles? Wonder how much energy was used in making this product. And then you cover up a totally natural product like wood.
I see haw to destroy beautiful wood deck with some crappy rubber ugly tiles
Wtf is the point of that?

Seems like the decking would trap moisture underneath and completely rot out your beautiful hardwood deck. Dumb idea.
