    I got EZ brackets with mine...ain't gonna use them. I think that I will take a thin piece of cardboard, make a very accurate template off the topside of the hood to mark out the screw holes , and then position the template where I want it , to allow for a plug in cord in the back...drill four tiny holes and start the screws, then install the cord , and slide it up and in place. My plug in, on the top edge of my stove is about 24 " away...so it should be good. Thanks for your video which showed that you don't have to use the EZ brackets if you don't want to.

    Really should put loomex box connectors in to protect the wire coming in to the hood fan . When it comes to exterior venting and Although it's not code in my area and could be different where you are...gas stoves should be vented outside from the range hood upper fan and the suggested CFM fan rating should be your total top burner BTU's and divide by 100. As an example 40,000 BTU total would require a CFM of 400. Those look to be a CFM rating of 300.

    Great video, thanks. Question: How far in from the cabinet sides should I install the shims? Not clear on the enclosed instructions. Thank you.

  • @Housebarons

    @Housebarons

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Marcus..., Those shims just provide a mounting surface - something to screw in to since the cabinet bottom is typically so thin and unsubstantial. They are 1x2 inch pine ( 3/4 thick x 1.5 inch wide is the actual dimension) They go right to each side and are screwed in from the other side of the cabinet bottom. Once the shin attached to the cabinet, you then have a 1.5 inch wide surface to attach the range hood to. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and asking.

    Hey Miriam, I added additional wood 1x2 supports first to span that gap. See the video 1:40 -1:55 or so. The thickness of that support is 3/4 inch. Then I could use a 3/4 inch or 1 inch mounting screw which would screw into the wood support. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

  • @Housebarons

    @Housebarons

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Micah, No issues. Ducted - vents outside great for smoke/burning food. But more complicated work and possible air leak to outside. Non-ducted - way easier to install. But doesn’t do much but circulate smoke. If you don’t burn food often, non-ducted is easy choice. Burn good- just open a window 😃 Thx for watching!

    The point at which you show the hole that the wire must pass through to the house wiring, there is a metal plate attached, but the next shot you show the metal plate has disappeared. How did you remove the metal piece in order to pass the wire and connect the wires? Can you fill in the blank, please? Cheers.

    Hey Fredriko, If I understand correctly, the metal piece to which you are referring is circular, the size of a nickel and it has a slot in the middle? If yes, then you stick a screwdriver into that slot and then bend and twist it and the tabs on the side of the piece will break off and can be discarded. Hope that helps. Thx for watching!

    Hey Spruce, We did added ducting below the floor and then added an exterior wall vent. The exhaust fan is underneath the cooktop. I get what you we thinking - that it was just recirculating. But this one is truly vented. But thx for letting us clarify. If it wasn’t clear to you, there are probably others thinking the same thing. So no worries. Peace, good will toward men! Hey bab…, They typically supply a way to direct the flow of air outside the house if your house has a vent installed to do so. Otherwise, no need to use it and the vent just recirculates the air instead. Thx for watching!
