HouseBarons

HouseBarons

Brothers Dave and Rich, and Dave's son, Caleb, renovate homes along with the help of many family members. Projects are typically on a large scale and most of the work is done without hiring outside contractors.

We post video series that follow a home renovation from start to finish. The first series was called "House Fire Flip" and shows the complete rehab of a home that was severely damaged in a furnace explosion. Currently we are posting "The Golf Course House Flip" series, which shows reno of an upsale house on a private golf course. Our next video series, "The Lake House Flip", shows the remodeling of a 6,000 square foot lake house.

We also post home renovation "how to" videos. We believe that anyone can build wealth by doing projects themselves.

    Sorry to hear about your challenge. Hmmm. A couple thoughts : 1) It’s a simple device - so problem solving ability would have to be consistently impaired. 2) how strong are they ? The locks won’t likely be broken by a child, but an adult male probably could - maybe a female / honestly I’ve not tried to break it - just a guess. But it is plastic so it would have its limits. If all that’s needed is act as a quick deterrent, it should work. But if frustration leads one to try and bend and break it, they might succeed. Might be worth a try. Hope that helps.

    THAT is a great question! I would guess probably not - unless the added water would help it adhere. The pressure washer will dig, but would you 2 foot deep hole be 2ft wide as well? May only know if you try….

    Good video, but doesn't it cause a problem to screw through the Kerdi Board?

  • @Housebarons
    @Housebarons22 сағат бұрын

    Hey Mary, In our experience we are not to concerned. The screws are covered by thinset ( holding tile on wall) and while that material is very slightly permeable , any water that seeps through is minuscule. Plus the location only gets splashed water. We aren’t worried.

    I followed all of these steps and thought it was all fixed but now when I flush the toilet, the handle stays lowered and the tank continues to try to fill but cannot because the flush valve remains in the up and open position and continues to empty the water out unless manually lowered. Is there a way to fix this and have the flush handle just automatically lower like normal after switching to a brass arm?

    No it's not the only place we have the tiniest of leaks is at the trap I think it's called the one that curves up and it's the one we tighten the white cap that goes into the straight plumbing pace into the wall right there we're getting the slightest bit still coming out so we're going to undo it and maybe it wasn't threaded completely straight I appreciate your help so much I'm not a plumber never done this before and I can understand what you're telling me to do. I noticed that when you were all done with installing the on/off shower plate that you did not caulk around the plate. Is it necessary to caulk around it if it isn't flush to the wall? I had a new shower installed (by a plumber) with new Moen shower head and handle and the plate isn't flush to the wall. I'm afraid water will leak into the wall if it isn't sealed. Thanking you in advance. Sue

  • @Housebarons

    It should be flush. Maybe installed wrong. Maybe wall isn’t right. I think caulking the gap at least the top half - from 8 o’clock to 4 o’clock would help. Hope that helps.
