How to Install Brake and Clutch Levers on DRZ400SM [RP Projects]

Today I have with me my brand new shorty brake and clutch levers from eBay, shipped to me from China, for my Suzuki DRZ400SM. Thing is, brake and clutch levers are really simple things and they are not rocket technology. You do not need to pay an arm and a leg for expensive name brand shorty or stunt levers when you can get these for less than $25 that work just as well.

I bought a foldable lever from taobao about 20sgd and fix it myself. Had been using it for 6 month now still looking good. Hehe most of my bike accessories I bought from there. Crashbar, mud guard, bar end, throttle and belly pan

Hey RP, just a little question for u. I saw that you are parking your bikes in open area? Do u cover all your bikes with a canvas? Especially during raining season like now. (Dec)

I used to, but nope, nowadays I don't because there isn't really a point. Bikes are meant to be ridden in the rain. Water isn't going to destroy it.

I see, since it is raining almost everyday now, will the rain corrode the bike? (I mean long term without covering)

ZLYY , if you ride often or daily, the important parts won’t corrode that fast even if you dont cover. If you only ride once a month, a cover wont help against corrosion because of water vapour. A cover is mostly for cosmetic protection against sunlight damage that will cause your plastic to fade in color or turn yellow.

Another cheapskate brethren here. Hi-five. Sometimes, you will need to modify the levers abit. I had to file mine down to fit. But for the money, can't complain. Haha..

RubberTyres , haha, the little L plate on the levers i bought that was supposed to hit the brake light switch dropped off from the levers because it was loose. Me and my friend jerry rigged a simple DIY knob to press the switch with a hot glue gun and extra wire crimps.

How is the clutch lever holding up? I think i bought the same ones off ebay. Have not installed yet. Someone told me they were not good, so i just moved the stock lever in to accomplish the "shortening" i was looking for lol

I’ve already gotten rid of the bike late last year. But it worked very well for the one year i had it on. Honestly levers are really simple parts on a bike, its almost impossible for them to fail no matter the manufacturer unless it was made out of cardboard.
