In this video we teach you how to install an Amazon basics smart dimmer switch. The Amazon Basics smart dimmer switch is a smart switch that allows you to remotely control from your phone or via voice commands when paired with a compatible Alexa device. The Amazon basics smart dimmer also allows you to control the lighting levels with the provided buttons on the switch.
The Amazons basics smart dimmer switch does require a neutral wire. It's important to know if you have a neutral wire before you install the smart light switch. Most homes built after 1980 will have a neutral wire. Some homes built before 1980 will have a neutral wire in the switch box but it was not as common before 1980. To Install The Amazon Basics Smart Dimmer Switch:
1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker and remove the existing dimmer switch. Mark the wires as you remove them and take a picture of the wiring before removing from the existing switch.
2. Wire the new switch with the proper wires and secure with wire nuts.
3. Install the Amazon Basics smart dimmer switch into the existing junction box.
4. Restore power to the Amazon basics smart dimmer switch.
5. Use the Amazon Alexa app to connect the Smart Dimmer switch to your wifi network for remote control.
