    I didn’t think about drilling into the grout. Thanks for posting this!

    Yep! It’s an easy work around. Whenever I’m Drilling into tile if I can use a grout line I’ll always shoot for that first

    Excellent-turns out I'm mounting the same model but in Black - so it's great to see the same hardware. One point nobody has mentioned is that the left and right brackets are NOT the same. One has a smaller diameter-because the tube has a different outside diameter on each side-so check that before proceeding. Also Jose mentioned the hex locking screws should go on the top so they are not visible. I agree.

    yes! both very good points. Its a good idea to hide those locking screws by placing them on top and it also helps to prevent them getting loose and falling out and losing them

    Good job, the bar looks great. The drill bit is very thick though and drilled the tile anyway, why not use a smaller drill bit to protect the tile? Also could the holders be turned horizontally to go through a horizontal grout line?

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    2 жыл бұрын

    The drill bit needs to be big enough to make a hole large enough to accept the screw. There’s no problem drilling through the tile, I just chose the grout line because it makes the drilling process 100% easier as you will only need to drill through a sliver of the tile on its edge vs having to drill a full hole in the center of a tile, also reducing the risk of cracking the tile. As far as turning the bracket, you can’t turn them because they need to be vertical to accept the rod itself. If you turned the brackets the rod would install vertically. They need to be installed in the orientation I showed in the video.

    Did all your supplies (besides the drill and drill bits) come with the curtain rod?

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    The curtain rod and hardware/screws came with it. It did not come with a curtain or the rings to hang it if that’s what your asking. But the rod and all things required or shown in the video to install it came with. I believe in the item description on the Amazon link it’ll show it lost what all comes in the box

    The screws to tight the rode are supposed to be on the top to hide them. Overall ok

    Do you lose any of the benefits of the curved rod by still having a liner INSIDE the tub? Or does the liner extend outward a pretty good amount? (I know the liner is needed to prevent water splashing outside the tub)

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    Жыл бұрын

    Good question. No you don’t lose any of the benefits. You can still use an inner liner and an outer cover or sheet and it works perfectly. There really is no difference in the function of your curtains, it just creates a larger space up top so that while you’re standing in the bathtub, it feels way more open. Just make sure you mount the rod at the appropriate level so that the liner on the inside hangs in enough for it to properly shut the water. It’s not much different than a standard rod other than it creates the more open space feeling.

    Just bought same one. About to install. Don't want to drill in tile so I need to drill above tile or outside closer to door. Would outside tile be too far away for curtain liner?

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    Жыл бұрын

    Just depends on how your tub and bathroom is set up. And how long of a curtain you purchase. If you were going to go outside the tile, further away from the tub, then You’ll most likely have to lower the mounting height of the rod to still allow the curtain bottom to hang within the tub. But I wouldn’t do this if it was waaaay out from the tub obviously. But in most cases you would probably be okay as it’s just a few more inches over. Not sure how it’ll look though. Might be okay. Let me know how it turns out.

    @@FortKnoxCo thank you so much. The video and you reply helped me a lot. Decided to go above and got it installed. All done. Will just have to buy longer shower curtain. Question tho...So I did have studs there so I drilled small holes then just screwed in the screws it came with. Did not use anchors. It wasn't super easy for the last three revs bit got it. I was a afraid to drill hole too big. How do you know what drill bit if there is no size on screws? I used 7/64

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mig3872 that’s awesome to hear. Whenever I drill a pilot hole for a screw I usually just eyeball the screw over the drill bits and choose a bit slightly smaller in diameter than the screw. It’s always safer to start smaller than start too big. You still want there to be enough wood for the screw to bite into. But there’s no science with it, just eyeball something smaller. The fact that your drill a pilot hole at all will help. Just don’t go too big off the bat.

  • @FortKnoxCo

    @FortKnoxCo

    You it’s giving you more head room and a feeling of more space above the tub. By swinging out with that arch. If you mount it too far away from the tub you won’t be able to have the curtain still drape into the tub properly

    Would have been a Top notch, five star video if you show the final steps instead of explaining them. It's important to show what you're explaining and not just explaining everything. Like when you drilled the hole through the tile. Overall good video though and thanks for posting

But yeah, if you could edit in a clip, (even from a phone mount, 2-4 ft away) of you doing/showing each individual step, to an extent, that would be Very Helpful for the "Do-er's" and DYI-ers out here! Thanks, and Cheers!
