How To Install A Consumer Unit With Surge Protection (SPD)

The Delroy The Spark Live Event Ticket Link:
www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/eastwa...
Eastway Electrical and Schneider Electric presents: The Delroy The Spark Live Event.
Join Delroy for an evening of electrical entertainment and discussion.
What the night will include:
• A screening of a special feature length episode of Delroy’s Eastway Electrical Vlog
• A screening of Delroy’s electrical biography
• A live Q&A with Delroy himself
• Giveaway’s courtesy of our fantastic partners Schneider Electric
About the feature length episode:
Delroy was called to do a straightforward EICR and some fault-finding for a property in East London. He carried out the EICR and fault finding and made the decision that some partial rewiring would solve the customers issues.
As Delroy began working on the installation; he discovered some of the worst electrical work he has seen in nearly 50 years in the trade. The episode, that’s is over an hour long, documents the discovery and rectification of some shocking electrical work.
Biography Screening
001
Delroy started out in the electrical trade in 1972 as an apprentice. Since then he has worked 1000’s of properties in London. On the night you will see an exclusive bio screening showcasing the story of Delroy’s career. You will see some of the buildings he worked on during the 1970s and 1980s and much more.

We flipped it upside down when we did one of these boards so earth bar was on the bottom and then unscrewed the neutral bar and moved it to the right way as you have and connected it up. It gave you alot more room at the top side to dress it all nicely. Good work my man.

Hey Delroy, are you sure you should have used the "Must not be connected to earth" sticker 20:06 hahah.......Im not convinced that equipment with exposed conductive parts connected to earth, aren't allowed in that house, and hopefully you HAVE connected the protective bonding to earth. Unless of course Part 2 shows how you created a faraday cage around the house.

  • @themarkcarr

No its not in the regs. The reg states that the board must be constructed of fire resistant material nothing more. Alot of manufacturers have jumped onto this and used it to sell sealing glands grommets etc but the regs don’t call for it.

Some boards have quickconnect din rails so the bus bar always has a cover in it (don't really like this box, seems big fuss to install and modifications required that shouldn't be needed (cutting the bus bar) , the main switch, bus bar and spd should already be installed

I thought for a moment you were installing a small panel heater del 😆😆 see schneider is carrying on using the *9* branding trade mark etc merlin gerin used. Incidentally if any one is interested were the *9* came from it's supposedly the width of the device ie mcb which is 9mm in French measurements
