So I have tried this multiple times and cannot get it to place as a watermark, but rather just inserting as an image. :-( My whole point is to only have it on one page. I think there must be some setting elsewhere that allows this? Any ideas? We know how all these app folks make tweaks that screw things up, so it is entirely possible that since 2021 when you posted this that MS has made updates and this isn't the fix anymore. Sadly, no clue why saving a custom watermark requires so many steps, but again... app developers. :-( Anyway, if you happen to see this, try it out again and see what happens. Thanks!

@@nickinixon9089 Thank you for watching! I'm sorry the process isn't working for you. I just checked it on updated versions of Word for Microsoft 365 on a Windows 10 and a Windows 11 machine and it's still working on my end. I hope you are able to find a solution!

That has to be the most obscure implementation of any feature in Word. I wonder which of Microsoft's wonder children created these steps? Thank you so much!!!

im using microsoft word 16.59 in the uk, for some reason mine doesn't come up with the drop down menu, yet for options like page border there is the choice to have it on one page

Thank you so much for watching! Unfortunately I can't be sure why your menu is missing, so I can't offer advice. If you believe your software has a glitch, you may want to send feedback to Microsoft in case others are having the same issue. I do hope you can find a solution!

I feel like office do not really offer the ability to fully customize your water marks. I need to have a water mark only on page one but i need to use multiple pictures and objects and combine them and set it as a full page water mark. Is this possible

Great question! The easiest way would be to create the full-page image separately and then insert it as an image rather than a watermark. You can lower the opacity to make it look like a watermark. Super, thanks! But now the watermark image (that I wanted full extent) covers the page number, even if I set it to the background. Any insight..?

That is a great question! The easiest way to insert the watermark on a specific fold in a brochure would be to use the method shown in the first section of this tutorial to insert the watermark on a specific page and then resize it so it only appears on that fold. I wish you all the best with your project!

I just took FOREVER to figure out how to do this on a Mac. Click on the page you do not want the watermark to appear. Layout>Section pane> A banner to the right of your screen should appear, and you just click the eye icon, and It shouldn't show up on that certain page :)

I've been using WORD for decades and am a wiz at it - yet I didn't know this ! How wonderful.... Now - since Erin out-shone me - can you tell me how to do a custom page border for a novel that I can suppress on first pages of new sections ??? :) so it doesn't show up in new Part and Chapter starts? Challenge SENT ! :) LOL

That is certainly a challenging question, but I do believe I have the answer. 😊 After creating the section breaks for your chapters, select Design > Page Borders > and then select "This Section -- All except first page" from the "Apply to" menu. Hopefully that will work for you!

Great question! If you aren't able to select it and press the Delete key on your keyboard, select the Layout tab > Selection Pane > and then select the text box in the pane and press the Delete key. Thank you for watching!
