Terrific lesson, Lynden, Thank you. I would like to make a suggestion. I use iReal Pro too, and because I hate all the sounds it uses for the Countoff, I turned countoff off, and for every tune I work with I added 2 bars in front, making them II-V7 of the opening chord of the tune. I just have to add the little "intro" sign to the first bar, and it works. (Your iOS does that differently from my Android, so I can't tell you how to do that. Easy to look up, though.) It's a great relief to hear a real intro instead of those ear-searing noises. Again, thanks for the lessons!

Yes Lynden . keepet it simpel and the importen thing is that you point out , is to start with the court tones ONLY for quite a while after learning the melody .Then filling on later is depending on how many Corus you have in line. By the way .The tenor I bought is sounding better and better the more I play on it. Bedst from Copenhagen Denmark

Forgive me if this is a stupid question as I don't really understand chords. Question is ,what key were you doing this in as I have a backing track in D major and I'm assuming the chords you have used might be different in other keys, again unsure as I don't have a musical background.

Thanks for your quick reply that's answered my question. Now I'm a little puzzled though, all the fabulous sounding notes you put to the chords really sounds great but I'm assuming you would only select some of the improv patterns to play within the melody, is this correct. Is it possible for you to make a KZread video to show us how you might add some of these patterns to the melody, embellishing it but still making the melody heard to the audience . Thanks once again, I absolutely love your teaching techniques, so different and more understanding.
