Old skooler here, just getting back into 20". I used to bunnyhop picnic tables, the front of an MG miget car, and my highest was 49 inches. Been off 20" for 5 years. Can barely manual, much less bunnyhop with any fire. Mountain bikes make you lazy and weak. Late 50s and I'm still moving right, just the body is weak. Never quit riding the 20s!!

The fact that your wife gives it a shot is awesome. I raced since I was 5 or something, 42 now, but it took me 20 yrs to get my wife to race and now we do it as a family with our two kids great family sport!

im glad you mention the correlation of bunny hopping and jumping. i notice there are others putting out videos on how to jump and dont mention the importance of bunny hopping and some will even go as far as to say not to bunny hop while taking off of a jump.

These videos are excellent. My son is 11 and every kid his age wants to clear a table, but its way easier to learn when you understand and can explain the mechanics. Thanks for taking the time!

Bunny hops are the best trick ever in bmx, you need it for almost everything I've been practicing bunny hops since 2010 and they are hard. Most I have ever jumped was 50 inches

Great shout! Luckily I have an agility set for the dog that will do nicely! Also, I heard a coach say to break that manual movement when going back into 2 movements. Down, then back like an L. That changed everything for me. Thank dude! Keep it up 🔥

Hi Barry, Fantastic video and fantastic teacher. If I may, someone of you guys (the pros) should teach us in a video how to move our weight (and bicycle) when jumping in a curved jump, let's say to the left, and right after the landing is in a curve that goes to the right. I am having troubles with that. Peace!

I am going to build this. I am 49, been riding (more daydreaming) for 45 years. I have always had a BMX bike. 22 years in the Marines caused a break in progression. The quality of the bikes have increased with age and income, but the riding stays a little stagnant due to phobias. Biggest phobia is my hands slipping from my grips as I pull to hop (gloves help with confidence). Another phobia is slipping off my pedals (Vans work best for this as we all know). This level set up could help though. Thanks for the video. Your family is awesome man.

It's been my experience that when you move from flat's to clipless but haven't started clearing jumps, bad things happen. I grew up with flats and 'real' clips, there was no such thing as clipless. In the mid 90's I started to see them out at ABA tracks and within a couple of years everyone was running clipless. The thing was people would try to use the clipless system to help them jump and I saw so many people endo because they never got the basics using flats. Learn to jump on flats and when you switch over your technique will be sound. Yes there are 'this person did...' stories but on average flats are the way to learn.

I never understood. How is it that people can bunnyhop with a bike higher than they can jump w/o a bike? The logic doesn't make sense to me. Weighted vs no weight but the weighted (on bike) can jump higher? Maybe if I understood the logic better, I can maybe have a higher chance of performing. Good video.
