My brother from another mother! You took the time to truly get out of this already sweet sounding snare and “HOT ROD IT” to your spec’s. Sounds like Fugazi’s snare and Bad Brains snare had one big beautiful baby. I’m stoked you’re video came up on my feed. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors my friend 🥁🤙🏼

Hi Ken, most excellent video, thanks for taking the time to make it. Your thoughts on Evans HD dry, Genera dry for snare?

Thanks for the good vibes Craig!!! Dry Heads are cool if you want a more subtle ring control over actual dampening. I actually just used an Evans ST(super tough) DRY for my recent Sensory Deception tracking. The HD and G dry heads are different in that they're thinner and being thinner, they need extra dampening to control the ring. So unlike the ST dry with no control ring, the HD and G Dry heads have the control ring under the head as well.

I like the mods but it also sounds really dry and choked which is expected I guess with those heads. I’d like to hear it ring more.

You raise a good point. I should have featured a snippet of the drum with an open ring sound as well

it much more economical to buy a snare closer to this spec in the first place.

Sick upgrades, do you think this is similar to the Vinnie Paul snare?? I know that one is a beast. But want to get your opinion 🤘🤘 cheers man!

thanks. I'd say the VP snare would be louder and offer more chest punch. not sure how the tone is but being 8ply maple, it will definitely be different than this 1mm hardened steel.

thanks for the kind regards. I am so sorry. I relinked the parts page on the tame site that will show you the butt plate. I also noticed I mis-spelled "Linear" "Liner"

Good video, tons of valuable information, but honestly I can't see why anyone would hit a snare drum so hard. Seems like overkill to the max. I never broke a snare in my life! To each their own, I guess. (I thought Phil Rudd was crazy, raising his snare drum arm over his head on every song! - watch AC/DC live to see what I mean)

thanks for the comment. Hitting the drums with extra mass and energy is good for the louder realms of the dynamic range. that is why louder drums were created. there are drums made for hard hitting and softer hitting. as the video explains, all the various components play a role in producing a sound. I can change the snare up and make it suitable for jazz Gig if I wanted. lol
