    I've done this Hike a few years ago and definitely a beautiful hidden lake up in the mountains and a must do.. but to call it Washington's best hike I can't agree with because theirs too many.. My personal favorite hike as of recently is Tolmie Peak, you're spoiled with two beautiful Lakes (Mowich Lake & Eunice Lake) and a beautiful view of Mt Rainier all at the same time from a fire lookout at the end.

    This video makes me sad. I remember back in the 50's, driving up the mountain loop hwy. and seeing one car parked alongside the Lake 22 trail head alongside the hwy. and keep on going because there was already somebody up there and therefore too crowded. Now I see the paved K Mart style parking lots, bridges, boardwalks and on weekends enough people to fill the Kingdome! Yes Lake 22 itself is still beautiful, but I'm surprised there isn't a Starbucks up there yet! Sad sad.

    I think with the overcrowding at national parks people are really starting to hit up places like this. Luckily it was still a very peaceful visit while I was there!

    @@LauraOnTheMove You were lucky there weren't any crowds there. You may want to consider hiking in from the Taylor River trailhead (above North Bend) up into Lake Snoqualmie, Deer and Bear lakes into lake Dorothy. I remember in the "good ole daze" when our family camped for a week on Deer and Bear lakes and had them ALL to ouselves the whole time!

    We went to Lake 22 yesterday, made it by 10am, cloudy and not hot. That was nice! I do know going early is ideal to beat any heat in summer and crowds. I like the lake but wasn’t a fan of hiking on rocks. It was better than Snow Lake(although this lake is prettier than Lake 22.)Snow lake was all switch backs on rocks most of the way up. Overall it was fun, preset views on the way up, small water falls and glad we got so see/visit Lake 22. I would recommend it. 👍👍 We love hiking mount Rainier better so far. Looking to visit Naches peak to star gazing It was recommended. Thanks for this video. We’re gonna look up hikers on KZread like this video to see the hiking places before we go. 👍

    The one time I went the trail was basically a creek. It was pretty but I have seen lots of better places. Its over crowded and one of the most over populated hikes I have ever been to. I know Mountain Loop well btw driven the whole thing and camped and hiked around it a number of times. Lots of other hikes around the area the road sucks but Barclay I think is better and no one goes up there. Heather Lake is from what i can tell about as nice and a slightly easier, although less pretty hike. You should really hit up Quinault and the Lake Cushman area if you want to see some beauty.

    When you got to the landslide part, I would of had some life decisions to head back. That path was like what trail. When you got past that and it was just big rocks. Like what trail. 👀 But it was beautiful when you got to the lake.

    I’m not sure but I think it took 2 hours or so to get up? I know I hiked around the lake but after the steep hike up I don’t know if I would do the whole loop. The rocks were hard on my knees on the way down but it’s such a beautiful hike!

    Super pumped! im doing this one this weekend. All trails says its a bit longer, and that they didn't recommend it for kids. my kiddo has come with me for some 7mi moderate hikes, do you have any insight? we are pretty new to it.

  • @LauraOnTheMove

    @LauraOnTheMove

    I would agree with AllTrails- I thought while hiking that it seemed longer than I expected! There were kids probably 7 or older hiking up. I don't remember there being any steep drop offs that would make me nervous with kids. There were a few steep climbs and one questionable area where the tree had fallen. There are a lot of rocks to walk around and should be taken slower. I certainly don't want to make the final call on them going, but it's always ok to turn back without making it to the lake!
