Yes you can, but you will miss a lot due to the TIME to DRIVE to destinations etc is LARGE. Especially true of places like Mt. Ranier National Park, Cascades National Park of which these 2 never actually set foot in as it has zero roads and requires overnight backpacking and HUGE elevation gains and why nearly NO ONE goes into the National Park. Likewise places like the Lookout they went to if you stay at and Airbnbs your driving time just to get to the parking lot before the large hike will probably be ~2 hours making sunset/sunrise impossible to witness for MOST*** explorers. Also you do NOT want to be hiking uphill thousands of feet after 10am. Not sure what your fitness level is, but the hikes they did are SHORT with very little elevation gain for Washington. 4000ft elevation gain is normal for hikes in Washington. 2000ft there are some and under this is a rare exception. Their itinerary was essentially car glamping Washington 101 a highly useful skill to learn!
Great vid. We will be in the San Juan islands in a month to kayak all around the islands for a week

I have a couple questions for you. How did you both meet? I’ve watched a bunch of videos here on KZread and it’s always a BF/GF couple or husband and wife couple doing the hiking and me being a single guy that does solo trips it would be cool to meet someone that was into hiking and exploring so I was just curious how you met. It’s cool that you both are photographers too. My other question you kind of touched on but do you ever see Bears or other wildlife while you are out on these trails? This definitely looks like a place I would like to check out in the future!

Layers. Both. Depends on which SIDE of the Cascades you are on as well. Eastern Cascades it will be in the 70's or 80's all the time while West of the Cascades it will be 70's but often in the 60s. It can be shorts weather for non webfoots(rarely), but even then nights will be COLD! Freeeezzzzzing cold(literally) especially if you are camping up high in the mountains, so puffy jackets are quite nice to have. For any extended period of stay you can expect 1/3 of the days to be rainy/misty/heavy clouds. A GREAT September is just like Summer and is quite often the case in Washington and why we call it Indian Summer. A BAD September can have weeks of cold rainy clouds. All natives here look at the weather and decide WHERE to go. If iffy weather or bad weather go EAST of the mountains. If good weather, anywhere of course. If really bad, go back to sleep it will be utter misery in the mountains.
Where do I get Stephen’s jacket!

Do you think that a motorhome would be a great ideia? it is because van is more expansive than motorhome and I dont know why.
@TheLoversPassport
10 ай бұрын
Could not tell you why either 😭😭 I mean if you can get a motorhome and are comfortable driving it, why not hahah!? The only thing to keep in mind is that u may have to park further away from trailheads since they are much bigger!
@w8stral
10 ай бұрын
Depends. If you are going to the hundreds of Forest Service campgrounds or state parks, then yes, motorhomes are just fine of pretty much any length. Depending on length of the oinker... If you are going the boondocking FREE site then this can be a major problem in the northern Cascades, but not really an issue in central or southern. Just do not get the trailer RV's as you can get yourself in trouble with them trying to turn around when, uh hem, WHEN you get lost(half the fun, uh frustration!) and frankly is a problem with normal road oinkers too as the only turn around spots are generally at the END of the roads or at campgrounds of which their are plenty assuming the Forest Service actually has them open.

Depends: Washington State has more variety, but on the whole, if you are willing to get out and go backpacking, kayaking, etc and get away from the car then BC, by far and away is more beautiful. It is not even a contest! I am a native Webfoot from Washington and it pains me to say that... BC is best seen via a boat. Interior BC in a car is... useless unless you count Jasper etc Provincial Parks as part of BC. TREES, TREES, TREES and more TREES TREES TREES. BC is a canoeists, kayakers wet dream with thousands of lakes... once again, AWAY from cars. BC is a backpackers/mountaineers wet dream as well. Once again, NOT car camping. Lots of provincial parks for camping as well, but honestly they are pretty much all the same in the interior. Uh, Interior = East of the coastal mountains.

If seen by boat, BC is hands down more beautiful. BC is a paddlers paradise as well and if you go in September is bug free(chilly though). The big Provincial parks next to Alberta are always a treasure. Northern BC is its own unique entity and hands down different and more scenic than anything in Washington if you stay away from the gargantuan forestry cutting operations. Getting there on the other hand... very difficult for most people due to driving time required and once there, you better get chummy with the locals and smile nice and big asking questions/directions etc as all the good spots... aren't in provincial parks or guide books. Some are, but most? Nope. The roads in BC are MUCH more rough than in Washington state... at least the ones I was on were. If there has been recent logging then the roads are excellent, top notch in fact, but if not...
