One way athletes battle this pain to keep moving is Kinesio tape, a thin and flexible compression tape that allows a person to continue their function.     It the same thing. Knee brace will add support and compression. This tape takes pressure off the soft tissues and facilitates blood flow to the area to allow for healing as well as adding support. It works remarkably well and I use it more than bracing these days
