    i have a bearded dragon and she LOVES swimming. i give her baths and if i don’t put enough water in it so that she could swim, she gets all mad and puffy, unless i put more water in it then she does her a float and she’s a lot calmer then.

    My bestie has a beardie and i babysit him sometimes when they have to take trips for work. He always has problems with sheds right over his nose and that is the only place he has ever had problems. Normally she just takes a pair of tweezers and plucks the end of the tip off his nose. It comes off super easy, the little guy just doesnt like rubbing his nose on stuff.

    It's just a temporary holding container. We use them if an animal needs to be soaked, or treated, or held during enclosure cleaning. They aren't very airtight and in the short amount of time they are in there, there's no risk of running out of air.

    It helps them to detect light. It's part of the reason you might spook them if you come at them from above, and it helps regulate their circadian rhythm so you don't want to mess with light cycles or permanently cover it, but quick temporary touching to address health concerns like stuck shed won't harm anything.

    The ingredients themselves are usually things like oils or aloe vera, but we don't recommend the dragon be allowed to drink it. It might be worth giving the dragon a bath in non-treated water first to let them drink as much as they want before using the products.

    @TyeDyedIguana

    Жыл бұрын

    We keep the lid on for the dragon's safety, so they don't decide to jump out on us. It also helps trap a little more humidity in the box, which is fine for a short period of time. The lids aren't completely airtight on these bins. If you give them a large enough bin that there's no risk of them hopping out and getting injured, then you don't necessarily need a lid.

    My bearded dragons rub against me when they shed. And one doesn't stop until I take the loose bits off lol. So I don't think taking off shed hurts them. Obviously if it's not ready don't do it. But you can see it's kinda loose so🤷‍♀️

  • @TyeDyedIguana

    @TyeDyedIguana

    4 жыл бұрын

    If it's coming off with a gentle rub, that's usually not an issue. Soaking the bearded dragon helps to soften shedding skin. What we don't want anyone to do is pick or pull on dry skin that isn't ready to shed, it can take new, fragile skin off with it and cause injury and bleeding.

  • @kiwikiwi7286

    @kiwikiwi7286

    @@TyeDyedIguana I agree. If you have to pull then it isn't ready lol. I've seen ppl on yt do that alot, which is cringy tbh. Idk if my bearded dragon just hates shedding. But my older one always rubs it off continuously until it's all off, besides the ones that are attached really well. Like and it's not just loose shed, like where it's poking out, she like peels it back when she rubs it like a crazy person, so I do just help her out, because she's doing it anyway. I give her a nice bath pretty much all the time when she sheds, so maybe that's why. She's never started bleeding by it. But I think you can definitely tell what's ready and what's not. Personally I see two layers, where skin overlaps her scales. She's a really great shredder. Her sister isn't as good, where this rule definitely stands, because she doesn't have that same layer that happens, where it's clearly loose, so I think it depends on the dragon. Or mine is just a pain tolerant crackhead lol

    No hate to you guys at Tye-Dyed Iguanas, but I have a bearded dragon and he stays in a 120 gallon. I think the minimum enclosure size should be a 75 gallon for an adult. That bearded dragon looks like an adult. Am I wrong?

    The 40 gallon breeder tanks (and the kits) are what we would consider to be the bare minimum - the smallest size possible that would allow correct temperatures. It's what we keep ours in here and they do just fine. That being said, there's nothing wrong with providing as much space as possible, especially for very large or very active dragons.

    Loose substrate is not an issue with proper husbandry. Higher humidity is only an issue over longer periods of time, a small bath will not cause respiratory issues. The bins are not air tight and is not a problem for the 15 minutes or so they may be in there.

    When your bearded dragon is shedding, put him in a lemon lime Gatorade bath. it keeps them hydrated plus helps that dried skin to come off. also bathe him in Gatorade once a month to keep mites off of him. • @TyeDyedIguana

    There is no reason to use Gatorade or any similar product on a healthy bearded dragon. It's full of sugars and food coloring that they do not need. Water will do just fine. Mites should not be a problem if you are quarantining new animals and using proper cleaning protocol, we have never had mites on any of our dragons in 15 years. If they do show up, there are much better products to use. Watered down Pedialyte is a drink option for a dehydrated bearded dragon, but a vet should be consulted first.

  • @TyeDyedIguana

    @TyeDyedIguana

    3 жыл бұрын

    You have to be very careful when it comes to soaking a uromastyx, as they need to be completely dry after. If water is left between the ridges on their tails, it can lead to tail rot. Keep in mind that uromastyx are very slow shedders, but there are a few other things you can try. Check your humidity. There's a chance that if it's very, very low, it could benefit from being bumped up a little. You don't want to go past about 35%. You could also try a little dab of coconut oil to try and rub in and help soften their shed for them.
