    As my room is pretty worm (19-22C) at all time I'm sticking a heatmat to the side of the terrarium set on low. Geckos love to sleep next to it and they are way more active since I've added it.

    My house usually stays at 70 to 80 year round based on where the AC is and the heat in the winter. I do let sunlight in but it’s across the room. It’s more to just stimulate his cicadic rhythm

    reptile heat tape! I have a custom DIY built enclosure from IKEA, a glass hutch i bought and water proofed. Reptile heat tape is completely customizable, meaning it comes in strips that connect together, you can basically create a "Heat pad" (OR outline your tank so the heat is evenly distributed) the entire size of one wall of your tank. For me my enclosure is large, i mean its a glass figurine hutch. So i have entire back of it as a sheet of reptile tape. I have a thermostat set, and the temperature is always 74. EVEN when its snowing outside.

    Been playing around with certain uva basking bulbs for heat gradients. Useless in a smaller tank because it will just heat it the fuck up, however in a very large display tank it does give a small temperature gradient that the geckos seem to like more than not having, but unless you got a big tank, not worth, also if you do any kinda light or ceramic heat emitters you also need to get fan to properly circulate the air.

    I actually use a space heater in my bedroom. >_> I have RA, and in a stroke of sheer dumb luck the temperature range I need to manage my pain is the same range my crestie thrives in. I only have it on when I'm home, though; otherwise I have a ceramic heat lamp set around 75°F.

    I also live in Wisconsin ! But in the winter I definitely use a space heater but I only run it when home and set a temp on it and I give them a lowww 20 watt ceramic heat emitter with a ledge under it year round . I see a lot of them like to sit under that slightly warmer spot .

    I've got a singular cresty. Have a ceramic bulb in a cage on top of the mesh roof. I have the thermo stat prope about 3 or 4 inches below the bulb sitting on two climbing branches. Set up to 28 degrees Celsius (sorry European so don't use Fahrenheit) for day time and not to drop below 16 c at night. Should I keep the probe at the top or lower it to the bottom?

    I'm researching to get my first crestie, but I live in Canada and I prefer having my apartment on the cold side (usually around 18-20C max, or as cold as 15C in winter). Looks like I might have to start acclimatizing myself to warmer temperatures for the sake of my future reptiles. 😅

    if i choose to keep the whole room at 70-75 degrees, i do not need any other heating elements for their tank? what about lights? Or do i just use the natural light for day and then keep it dark at night?

  • @corvidaemoon8744

    @corvidaemoon8744

    Жыл бұрын

    If you keep the entire room at 70-75, they do not need any other heat source. Crested geckos do not require a UVB light, and so if you do not have live plants in your tank, it is not necessary. However, it is always healthy and beneficial for any animal to have a natural day/night cycle. I would suggest and LED light, set to 8 hours on 16 hours off. A very cheap timer is on amazon for like 2$? You just plug your light into the little timer and the timer plugs into the outlet, very easy. Hope this helps

    So I just got my Crested Gecko today and it’s in its shoebox stage because it is about 2 inches. If my room is naturally 72 degrees, would that suffice for it? One more thing… does my new Crested Gecko need any other heat/light source if room temp is 72 degrees?
