How to Heal From a Narcissist with Dr. Ramani Durvasula | Ep. 305

We are overjoyed to welcome back Dr. Ramani Durvasula to talk about healing from narcissists in your life - whether it be a parent, friend, or romantic partner. She briefs us on what narcissists actually are and what motivates them, then we dive into the handling and healing process, everything from recognizing to acceptance to how to communicate with them and finally, moving past the trauma and self-actualization. We also play a game with her - Narcissist or Not - crowd-sourced from our listeners. Before Dr. Ramani joins us, we’re talking about the something men love to mansplain (that dries us right up), and the “dressing down theory” of having better luck on the dating scene when you’re in casual, comfy clothes. Enjoy!

:( My poor partner had his mother wake him up most nights so he could cuddle and reassure her as she cried and rambled about all of her past traumas and issues for hours making him incredibly tired for school the next day. This started when he was 8 and continued till he was 12. Disgusting 😢

I love Dr. Ramani. Shes been so helpful in processing my narcissistic father's abuse. My father actually died a little over a month ago and that was honestly the most healing I ever got from our relationship. I remember trying several times to have ernest, frank conversations with him about how his behavior was hurting me immensely and I just remember him sitting in his chair, arms folded and just checked completely out. He was fully unable to do any self reflection or to have any empathy.
