When I started boxing it was awkward using my lead left hand. I'm lucky I saw a video on youtube called the most dangerous punch in boxing (I think the video has been deleted) But it was a video all about left hook knockouts, or the left hand to the liver. I became obsessed with turning my left into a weapon. now I would say my left hand is better than my right lol

I do MMA coach and I love switching stance. Once I read you can train your less dominant side to be dominant. So I started practicing writing, eating, painting and every daily activity with left hand and I did that for months. And surprisingly my left hook and left jab has drastically improved. Of course not as good as my right.

I stand southpaw, but my dominate is right. Feels more natural than orthodox, but still want to work on orthodox

Awesome advice. Boxing is changing, I think. Old school techniques and training s don't work anymore if we want to go to the top. It is very difficult to find a trainer who allows us to train both sides in one training session tough. If the trainer is old fashion stubborn guy, more likely he will convince to stick with one side and get perfect, which happened to me. I had to change the gym and get new trainers who are open minded. Am a girl, and it makes more difficult to convince the trainers to let me work on both stances orthodox and southpaw , leg works. But finally I am ok with my new wonderful trainers.... Best of luck to everyone.

Marvin Hagler was right hand southpaw winky wright was a right hand south paw that fought at top level just like you train to fight either way with either hand it can be done either way its all how you comfortable mike tyson was right handed by the way you train your weak side from any stance

I always felt more comfortable leading with my weak hand and having the right hand hammer coming down the pipe. I also was a great athlete so I didn't have a problem using either hand with speed or power. I think people who are less coordinated or athletic might struggle. I started coordinating my left hand by using it to brush my teeth with it lol

Coach. Some footwork drills are easier for me in a southpaw stance (I'm right-handed). However, since I started in an orthodox stance, feels like the same. How to check what is my natural stance for better balance and footwork?
